I worked on cruise ships as an entertainers and I have been to almosy all these spots. Panama is always hot and humid, Mexico does have cartel problems, but I enjoyed cancun, P V and cozumel. Germany is awesome and I havent been to Costa rica. I just know from living in fl for work only I hate the heat and humidty and I want to stay far away from that at all cost. I live in Thailand 🇹🇭. I moved here in 2017. Politics and Trump taking office played no role in my decision to leave the US. Nor did financial considerations play a role. I had already been retired 5 years and I found Thailand to just be a more desirable place to live. For me culture and pace of life were the primary draws. Bangkok is a fantastic modern city and an easy place to land as a first time expat. If you don’t like big cities then there are other expat desirable destinations in Thailand. I will say that in retrospect, observing the developments in the US during the past 8 years, I am glad to be living outside the US to not care much about the details of what is happening there. From my point of view the political stability here has been fine. The only thing I pay attention to is visa and immigration news. If you pay attention to Thai politics it is . . . well . . . politics. None of it affects me. I don’t vote here (note: neither do 40% of eligible American voters). I’m happy to not care much about Thai politics and happy to be far far away from US politics.

As Americans move toward other "affordable" countries, it just creates gentrification. Whether the reason is political or not, US healthcare, food additives, and crime stats, guns, violence, are pushing Americans out of their comfort zone. Moving to another country can be shocking for some that think our culture exists elsewhere. Having lived in Spain (and liked it) simple things like flushable toilets, laws, quiet apartments/walls, treatment of pets, air conditioning and heat are not to be taken for granted in some countries.

@@ggukrzy Peru is great. I just visited there and going back in January to meet friends on the northern coast. I have my legal residency In Mexico and was thinking of a second residency and Peru, but unfortunately they do not have any type of tax agreement with the US so you are taxed and the taxes are high in Peru compared to other countries. So if you are in Peru for more than 180 days, they consider you a tax resident and tax worldwide income.

I am most intrigued by Uruguay, followed by Argentina. They are the two highest ranked Latin American nations on the Global Peace Index, well ahead of the U.S. also with superior, far more affordable healthcare than the U.S. Uruguay additionally is a shining star of LGBTQ+ rights, important to this particular gay guy. Uruguay also is tops in solar power adoption, and just this year has seen an explosion of growth in electric vehicle sales. Called a "boring" country by some, I prefer a chill, peaceful, more stable version of Argentina, though admittedly tiny in comparison and lacking the natural scenic diversity. I have been reading up on this, and since I am 4 years out from being able to live from any retirement income, I have some time to work on my Platinate regional Spanish.

If the elected political party reduces or kills social security, it won't matter where you live. As an expat who lives in Ecuador, I'm hesitant to recommend Ecuador. I wouldn't prioritize proximity to the US. I prioritize safety, ease of visa, infrastructure, and cost of living. Cambodia checks those boxes, but it's hot and humid. Baguio, the Philippines, offers a cooler climate, cheap living, and a university town, but their visa concerns me. I took Costa Rica, parts of Mexico, and Uruguay off my list due to costs. Same with Chile.

Put Buenos Aires Argentina on your list. I lived in Buenos Aires for 10 years. If you like a great international city that is very affordable, take a look at Buenos Aires. But Argentina has something to offer anyone in every price range. For me, a 1500 to 2000 dollars a month passive income allows me to have a very comfortable lifestyle, and the wealth is good also.

Panama, Costa Rica and Uruguay are among the most expensive countries in Latin America and are loaded with Americans. A better choice is move to a country far enough away from the US and does not speak English, that way no one will care what is going on in the US.

I agree. Experiencing a new language and way of life is a great reason to leave the US. After all, so much of the lifestyle in the US just isn't the same anymore. Having lived in Spain long ago, I can testify the quality of life is much better but one has to adapt to different amenities- some good or bad. No country will be a Utopia. One has to decide their priorities. As one commented, safety and taxes (taxed on American money) can be a deciding factor.

In other words, I can easily retain attorneys who will represent my property & my products...making sure that my reputation remains above par....while sending a clear message to my haters & competition...that Character Assassination & "Liebel/ Slander"...are NOT accepted anywhere ( inside) the country of Belize.
