I had fillers for the first time this year in June, lips and around the mouth, age 59, went back late July to top up I'm very happy, topping up again early December, I'm doing the little and often way. I just turned 60 and love my results.

Hahaha I loved this! I actually first got dermal filler in my nasolabial folds, back in the day, at 22 years old. Had to get 3ML of product directly into the fold itself after major weight loss, and it truly changed my face for the better. Four years later, and it's kind of still there - but it doesn't look as 'fresh'. Perhaps it's time for a dissolve and fresh batch. Love your videos, Dr. Sarah! Xx

You got started early like me 😁 and like myself I agree that these treatments can be absolutely life-changing especially if it's something that bothers you. Can be really tempting to dissolve it all and restart the process but that does involve a little wait where you are stuck in limbo between the dissolving recovery and then the re-filling treatment because you can't do both of these in the same session. I usually don't dissolve it all and start from scratch unless I can see that the initial filler has been incorrectly placed /migrated and I would have to make sure that the patient is totally happy with the limbo situation 😬

I have experienced swelling all over my face during a sinusitis process... all the areas i had filler like my undereyes, cheeks, chin got swelled and painful. I took some steroids and got back to normal in a couple of days. And in my case, YES it is juvederm!!

When the body creates an auto-immune response the sites of filler placement can often react in this way. In fact sometimes that's how I know when I'm sick / getting sick because my filler puffs up a little.

As much as i love filler, I've had bad experiences. With my cheek filler i got an immediate bruise on my upper inner cheek, and by the next day i had a full on black eye. Then 1 or 2 days after i went to the ER horribly sick and they said it was a bowel obstruction possibly frpm inflammation. But EVERY dr i saw asked me about my eye. Everyone initially thought i was an abused woman. (My poor husband. It really bothered him and he was so self concious the staff was silently judging him.) But it was embarrassing to explain over and over. Then... like 4 months later I got lip filler for the first time. Just .5ml total in top and bottom and i had it done in the afternoon. (Loved the results even with swelling.) And by the time i was eating dinner that evening i realized my lips felt sore. So i looked in the mirror and to my horror they was asymmetrically swollen and red. (This wasnt normal swelling. Half of my upper lip was twice the size of the other.) After calling the Drs office and sending them a picture of my lips they said it was a VERY rare allergic reaction, and to take some Benadryl. (I was only the 2nd patient to ever have a reaction.) The next day i had to go to work and see patients and when i could i held an ice pack on my lips which did help. But it was still embarrassing and i had coworkers asking me if i was ok. I'm telling you if theres a reaction to be had I'll have it. That being said, i love how fillers look. Such a difference.

OMG what an absolute nightmare having to continually explain about the eye ☠️ also an allergic reaction like that for the lips is really rare like they said - so unlucky! You must really love the results from filler to be going back for more! Thanks for sharing ❤

I need advice. I’ve been getting my lips done for a few years. All of a sudden the sides on my top lip looks like it is curling inward and makes the sides of my lips look nonexistent when there is actually filler in them.. I had them re-injected to fix the issue but they look exactly the same. I can’t seem to figure out the problem.

Besides fillers and surgery, is there anything I can do at home to help a sagging jawline? Since jowls is the accumulation of fat and loss of volume in the cheek area (even from bone loss), can weight loss and building muscle help a little or will the jowls become more pronounced?

Hi Dr Tonks, im considering redensity 1 for the start of crepey very fine lined skin around eyes/top of cheekbone and mouth.. do you recommend this over other procedures such as a minor chemical peel? I want to try but not sure if it provides lasting improvements. Im 32 and looking to stop the beginning of things im seeing

I would usually lean to using Redensity 1 for this indication but it's really important to see what happens in the consultation with your practitioner - they will know best!

Hey, just discovered your videos, I had filler for the first time 2 weeks ago now on my nasolabial folds and I still have what it looks to be purple bruising along the lines, I have messaged the lady I got it done with and she said it can be normal but due to the bruising still being a purple colour I am abit more concerned as I now feel even more self conscious, is the normal or should I be worried? X
@DrSarahTonks Жыл бұрын
2 weeks isn’t a crazy amount of time. Did you show her a picture? It can’t be a vascular occlusion at this point. The only other thing is if you can see the filler though the skin?
@lizzieandpippa Жыл бұрын
@@DrSarahTonks hey, thank you for replying. Yes I did send her a picture and she said the same thing as you actually about it not being a vascular occlusion due the the time period so that’s reassuring and she recommended arnica cream to help with the bruising as well so I have now been using that for a few days now. when I look at it in the mirror it kind of looks like there are purplish veins running down either side of my face now so it’s creating darkness and shadowing, I can also feel the lines of filler so I’m not sure if that’s ment to happen at this stage? I’m someone that’s never wears make up so having to put it on now everyday to colour correct my skin is disheartening but again I’m still in some sort of hope this is some what normal after 2 weeks. It’s really hard to find people before, during and after processes to make sure I’m not loosing my mind x

I had my first filler done this summer, I'm Gen X so over 40. I had Belotero under the eyes with mixed results. I needed to have my tear trough corrected which did provide me with some much needed volume however now I have a little bit of a Tyndall effect going on. I don't regret it but in some lighting, it looks bruised. My surgeon suggested Radiesse for cheeks but I'm not sure how that will remedy the situation... Anyway, I wish you were my doctor and I love watching your clips!
@DrSarahTonks3 жыл бұрын
Did you find out why the surgeon wanted to use Radiesse in the cheeks? Is the area still looking 'Tyndall-y' or is it ok now? Thanks for watching the clips! Occasionally I do live Q&A's on my instagram @drsarahtonks but don't know when the next one will be 😆

@@DrSarahTonks My filler settled down a little, now I'm more happy than not with it. My undereye was previously all sunken in & now the volume has been restored so I'm relieved. There is still some discoloration that is noticeable in some lighting & angle. I think the surgeon wants to plump and smooth the upper cheek to make it seem more seamless. I'm considering it but I am nervous with celebs looking overfilled b/c I know that Radiesse cannot be dissolved.
