“Improving decision quality is about increasing our chances of good outcomes, not guaranteeing them.” ― Annie Duke This book is really good. Every day is choice and decisions to be made.

Great review! A tip from a pro trader, if you have a risk/reward ratio of 1:2 you just need to have a win expectancy of 30% in order to make money or maybe even live a fulfilling life in the long run

Can you explain this. It looks to me with those numbers you lose. You bet $100 three times, you spend $300. You double your money one in three of those bets you make $200. You're out $100.

I also think you need to think long term. Maybe you pass on the current opportunity for a better one and keep yourself in the game by waiting and not making a decision that could take you out of the game, particularly if you are wrong on your probability.

There is literally 50 better models for thinking than this book. This book assumes humans are good in giving percentage on things from head. This works for poker players and humans who understand probability and math, not ordinary people.

No issues with the content of the book except for the promotion of her brother Howard Lederer's poker achievements excluding the obvious mention of the ponzi-scheme like activity of his involvement with Full Tilt poker. Still have my doubts about the character of someone who received paid endorsements from a cheating poker website (ie. Ultimatebet). Easy to bet when you can see hole cards I guess and even easier to bet on a website that won't payout its' customers.

It's interesting how this book is popular outside of the poker community yet destesed inside it. Duke is a proven scammer and criminal and her brother is probably the most hated poker player of all time. Unfortunately I will never read this book, sometimes you can't look beyond an author's life.

Interesting & thank-you. It seems to be missing a key factor. Some actions have a positive expected value, but if you can’t afford to lose them they probably shouldn’t be taken. Say a poker hand where you bet the deed of your house and had a 90% chance at winning $5M.... I’d probably still pass. Imagine being homeless after just a flip of a card... no thanks.
