54:10 When this was recorded, 1992?, there was no Google. I Googled "M. Stanton Evans." He just died in 2015. So, he was alive at this recording. Just a bit of trivia. A non-essential, but it does show the power of the web. ;-)

50:06 - the false dichotomy of fascist vs communist wasn't a mistake, it was a deliberate strategy cooked up by the Seventh Comintern Congress of 1935. They switched their aesthetic from radical agitprop to the mellower "Popular Front" appeal, which claimed that communism was a continuation of local national traditions - a move which explains the American Communist Party's amusing Abraham Lincoln phase. And they set up the ideology of "antifascism", the false choice that if you don't support Russia, you're a fascist who supports Germany Italy and Spain. It may have lasted in the mainstream until Goldwater, but among the kooks it still exists, though today it's often been racialized.
