You hear negative chat about the use of Lithium? I think everyone does and like all big shifts in the sports that we do, it comes with a lot of attitude, and not all of it good. In the water there is virtually none, but behind a keyboard there is plenty.
I still kite, I still wing, but I also use the Foildrive a lot - why? Because my conditions are perfect for it. This clip is from my local - a spot that I watched for 10 years, and without the time to learn prone foil, that's all I could do, watch - until this year...

I always look forward to your videos, keep them coming! You really have me considering the Foil Drive with your recent videos. Unassisted prone surfing seems the ultimate but is definitely beyond me at this point in my life. I'm a winger only these days and the 'time on the water' with FD would be amazing for my skills, as well as open up days with no wind. Good stuff!

Yeah, i got heckled by a surfer in the water the other day. It was 2ft and he was on a short board not able to catch waves, i caught about 30 waves…. Go figure. Other sessions i get genuine curiosity and interest and even cheers from surfers. I keep my distance as i can understand that the noise is irritating and the foil and prop are potentially dangerous.

Great photos as always! I with you on this one, I am using foil assist dyi, this is my way to learn foil. But just correction - foil drive is specific company , foil assist is the general term

How many batteries did you use over 5 hours?

5 batteries - get an hour out of each :-) I do well for battery life - not sure if it's a board thing, but I do a bit more pumping these days, and I'm very easy on the gas. Typical EV driver with range anxiety. Also falling off less, and it's the starting that really kills the juice too.. .

@@petercook7798 max - 90% of foildrive sales are the max with the max power battery. With a heavy finger you get a minimum of 45 mins, max 2 hrs.

Most everyday UK wave conditions are good for this. Every so often it's bombing. But with such inconsistent surf it's far better to be out and riding than not. Surely?

yes, agreed. If surfing requires great suffering to get a perfect if small reward, it's a bit like a Michelin starred restaurant. FD lets you rip everything at slightly lower quality - it's an all you can eat buffet. I do see the difference, and I do respect both, but I don't see the value in working for a week to afford a very small meal when I'm extremely hungry ;-)

Ideals are great, but they usually come with a big scoop of hypocrisy. Batteries get old dudes off the couch and on bikes and surfboards.
