Mr. T still had his spunk even at the end. I appreciate the fact that you let your horses be horses. You make them tow the line but you let them be horses 99% of the time and that's what's needed. They have a great life with you. I miss Mr. T. He was majestic.

I'm sorry Rick. I lost my 15 year old pitbull Cookies 8 years ago almost same way Mr. T went. She let out a painful howl her last breathe. It was very hard to watch. I don't get teary-eyed much but I do when I think of her and when I saw your video. I had a connection with that dog I can't explain and it hit me hard. Someone told me that I was the best owner she could've had and it made me feel better. So many animals are abused and there are those that are so lucky to live their lives with owners who respect them and love them. You were that owner. Mr. T had a beautiful life with you and nothing can beat that.

I've watched Rick's early videos when they were in a herd and with Rick's instruction & Mr T (& Buddy) I have learned how much about horses. It's brought this home-bound girl such joy to watch the 3 of them and their relationship. Not to mention Rick cracks me up and he's a wonderful instructor. I like his straight forward approach. Man I just love Mr. T. He's the ideal horse to learn a lot from. Yes you can learn from every single one of them, but Mr. T has a special place in my heart, even though I don't know him. Simply because he's very intelligent and reflects even the tiniest things back on who handles him. I'm sitting here laughing my ass of imagining me working with him, cause I'm in a wheelchair and when I work with "my" (I don't own him) horse... he tends to sometimes take advantage of me not being able to move around so quick too and I laugh about it (he's not being mean, just being a horse), in other instances he's very nice and forgiving towards me (I jokingly call it the "cripple bonus" that horses often give me). I think Mr. T would just say "screw that stupid human on wheels I'm outta here". hahahaha I love that old man!

I know and understand you getting frustrated with Mr. T because I showed dogs for 20+ years and I always expect my dogs to do what I taught them but when I got older and my health declined I begin to understand a lot of things BUT… When you moved Mr. T it was like a dance of soulmates Rick so look back on this and watch the love and respect y’all have for each other…such a beautiful vision and now a memory to behold. I’ve lost all four of my dogs 🐶 and I still have a hole in my heart where I miss them. I will say only one died at 7 and the others were 19, 16 & 14 so they were well loved and taken care of. One thing I will always take pride in is that when people would meet my Basenji’s they always commented about how well behaved they are because they can be a real handful!!! Also, my clients would always say when they got their dogs back how well behaved and mentally stable they are and that always meant the world to me because animals who act that way have been truly loved and respected and I feel Rick does the same with his horses 🐴 and that’s where I relate to him!!! Here’s to all of the loved ones we’ve lost and to the ones still putting up with us…lol.

I would say his (probably all) front hoof walls are harder because all the weight is on the front. Both my boys are the same way. So the hoof/nail bed, gets work hardened. Just like sheet metal does. It’s also why they break easy after time when they get long. (Grow). Keeping the hoof edges rounded in between trimming helps reduce cracking. Once again, just like sheet metal, sharp corners are a starting point for cracks. Aircraft maintenance 👨🔧 101. Lol also apply here too. 🐴🐴🦅

My dog’s nails need to be trimmed now that she is older and doesn’t wear them down as fast. When I only clip her nails without sanding them with a dremel they form little splinters. When I round them out, similar to mustang roll, with the dremel they stay much nicer and don’t splinter.

I would relate the mustang roll to using tank tranks rather than tires. If the hoof is not smooth, there could be points on the hoof that take more weight than if was distributed evenly across the entire hoof. Tires put the weight in one spot where they contact the road where as tank tracks could disperse that same weight over a larger area, meaning not as much weight in one single spot. - can carry a heavier load.

I did hear the bone cracking or joint popping on the front right foot, but I'm wondering: maybe the front left hoof came down hard this time to maybe relieve some of the pressure of standing on 3 feet? My theory: Mr. T has always been good at standing still for you, has never pulled away from you like THIS before. But when you face the camera, I noticed he moved his right front hoof away, BUT didn't move his left side and he didn't transition the weight to the right side.

Rick, I learn so much more watching what you do when the boys are behaving badly - you explain the whys, and the hows are very obvious ... when they are good, it all just happens and i don't see the subtleties in what you are doing. so, thanks for showing the bad as well as the good.
