I was experiencing quite major delay/lag while using EOS webcam on zoom but fixed it by changing the shutter speed to match the FPS so changed it from 1/50 down to 1/25 to match the FPS. Hope that helps anyone experiencing the same issue!

I have a 5D mark Iii. Way to big and heavy to use as a web cam. I also have my 90D that is my main camera I shoot with now. Still a bit to big and bulky. I need a generic little Canon T6 or T5 starter DSLR. Either one would be perfect. I also have a Canon T3i but I gave that to my daughter in 2018. I think a used T5 would be perfect. They I could get real creative using my grandfathers old 28mm FD mount lens on it and get this real organic soft focus look.

BE SURE YOU TURN OFF ALL OTHER APPS INCLUDING EOS UTILITY 3. We did this a few weeks ago and the difference in our livestream is night and day. No going back.

I was very pleased with how well this worked on my Canon T6i, and I appreciated so much that Canon basically gave my camera great new functionality that, in effect, saved me from considering a new camera instead. (And as a result, when I do upgrade my camera, it will definitely be another Canon.) But I seldom actually use the setup that way -- it causes the camera to make a loud CLUNK when the shutter opens and closes, and I can't help thinking it is not a great idea for the longevity of the camera's CCD (maybe I'm wrong) to have it exposed to light for long periods like that. If I need something better than a webcam, I use a Panasonic Vixia camcorder with clean HDMI output to OBS. The truth is, I don't need to have every pore, imperfection and whisker of my face perfectly captured in full HD. But thanks, Canon!

We need a capture card in order to make it fully work and also an HDMI cable. I thought the USB wire would do the trick but nope. :(

Followed this so I could zoom call my son to help him with his algebra and it works like a charm. I can manually lock the focus on my cannon where the regular webcam kept trying to focus and would get all blurry trying to focus on my whiteboard. Glad I searched KZbin before buying a capture card.

Some interesting things you might mention: All DSLRs and mirrorless cameras except a handful of Sony and Panasonic models, have a thirty minute recording/streaming limit. It is possible to disable the limit on the Canon 6D using Magic Lantern. But it's the only one that can be modified that way. I use a 5D MKII, which is not listed on Canon's list of compatible cameras, but works just the same. So if you don't have a camera on the list, try it anyway.

I still use my old 80D to livestream. When the setup is done right the camera will stay on past that timer limit as long as it is plugged into an electric power source. I've been doing this for years.

Hey man, a lot of knowledgeable people on forums talk about these mirrorless cameras as not being heat tolerant enough to do that and that the sensor will burn out over time. I have an m50, it looks awesome streaming and I've emailed Canon but it's Christmas so won't hear for days probably. Anyways, what's your experience - do you ever see an overheating icon show up? Will the dual-pixel auto focus work, if I livestream? 3. I know most (or all?) DSLR'S have a cutoff record time of 29m59secs. Does this apply to streaming (without recording). i.e. will the camera switch off by itself after that amount of time, even if I'm not recording the stream?

It might have been prudent to also state the Eos utility does not use the cameras mic, there is no audio from the camera, so unless you have a mic you will have no audio, quite important that.

I know nobody cares but just because the message may not be received doesn’t mean it’s not worth sending so here goes. You gotta either use both terms or explain both terms because most cameras today are Mirrorless or MFT as opposed to DSLR. There is a difference and the difference is important. It’s important to teach nomenclature correctly because when people go to search for more information they will get lost or lack the results they want. The M in M50 literally means Mirrorless. Ok Soapbox over. Keep doing great work.

This works great but at 29 minutes and 59 seconds (Rebel T3i) its a moot point. The camera stops recording. Most Zoom calls are longer than 30 minutes. Any fix you can let us know about for that issue?

use OBS or Bandicam or Sparkocam - they all work with the EOS M50. See if you can select it in zoom, then you know you're good to go with a streaming app. Just start the streaming app, add a source as appropriate for whatever app you are using and it should appear. Start with OBS - simple and free.

When I'm speaking there seems to be a short delay of sound. 2 questions. 1) How do I sync audio (I use a Scarlett 2i2 interface with a condensator mic) 2) Can I use a internal mic or a Røde mic directly in the M50 if I calling with Skype or Zoom? Just messing with my Canon T3i it works. kinda looks 4x4 instead of 16x9 but I will take it. I had an HDMI capture card, but that puts a box around the image, though I was able to get rid of all the on screen info. I also run Magic Lantern on it, so that might have something to do with it? no clue, but the Webcam Utility seems to work fine for what I need.

@@HisandHerMoney first off, I’m honored and I’m a fan of your channel! Make sure the Auto power off is set to disable. 1. Hit that menu button 2. Go to function settings 3. Eco Mode (Turn off) 4. Power saving (Display off - 30 min) (Auto Power Off - Disable) This keeps the camera on. I hope this helps!

I have the exact same problem. What you are getting is the [4:3] aspect ratio version. What I do is restart my computer or take out the battery from the camera and put it back in again. Then start the EOS Webcam Utility software and the very first time you turn it on, you should get the full screen version [16.9] with small horizontal black bars as opposed to the vertical and horizontal bars. There's absolutely no resources on this huge problem its almost criminal.

I just got a M50 MarkII, I keep seeing this Sigma lens in all of your videos (especially the ones using the M50). Is this your goto lens just for livestream/podcast/talking head or do you also use it outside and on the go for vlogging? Im super super new to all the camera stuff. I've only been using GoPros up until a week ago. I have 2 lenses for it right now. 15-45 and also a similar lens with a little more fstop 3.5 I think. I know the Sigma has an fstop of 1.5 which is what makes the blurred background pop. It seems like it is autofocusing really fast too. I noticed the M50 has super quiet and fairly fast autofocus even with just the kit lenses. Thanks for all your content and insights
