This is cool. Hope my Nikon D90 works this way. Here is a thought about green screen. If I set my depth of field correctly I could blurr the green screen and it would be a much more consistent (field of green) background so lighting it would be less touchy. Thoughts?

Simply select that audio device in audio settings of Zoom/Teams. It's not dependent on camera

@@kingtejas_ It is hard to answer and depends on camera drivers and how it interacts with the computer via USB. I have personally never tried the setup you mentioned. Otherwise you can plug the mic on 3.5mm jack of computer itself.

thats some low quality images i got out of my camera using that method. thankfully i figured it out with the less then 20 dollar capture hdmi thingy and mini hdmi cord setup which i was originally looking for instructions on how to use when i found this method. your method < hdmi capture usb thumb drive thingy for my nikon d3200

@@PatPosse go on ebay and do a search for "hdmi capture card usb 2.0" it should be a thumb drive looking usb device with a full sized hdmi port on the end and it says "hdmi video capture" on the side and will be around 11 usd give or take 50 cents. (don't get the usb 3.0 one, it has really bad reviews, if it says hdmi video capture on the side then you know it's the right one). i think you can get the same one on amazon for 30 usd give or take 5 bucks. you will also need a full sized hdmi cord to mini hdmi that looks exactly like the mini hdmi port on the side of your camera. it's pretty much plug and play for the most part. i just had to go into the streaming platform i was using, in my case discord and told it the video source is i forgot what it's called but something generic like usb video cam... also this method is basically like sharing your lcd screen on the back of your camera so you will need to change the view mode for the lcd and there is one that will stream only the video and not video with allthe camera settings around the image.... the nikon d3200 just puts out better quality video via it's hdmi port then it's a/v out port. also i use a usb microphone on my computer. i vagely remember while learning about this method that the audio doesn't work via the camera, which is ok with me because i'm on discord. no biggie if there is some audio and video sync issues. it shouldn't be a problem on zoom either. anyways, good luck. if you want to find videos about this i guess do search for dslr to capture card.

@@PatPosse i only got it up and running 4 days ago. i'd assume if you have pc software that can record a stream, then definitely yes. most youtube streamers use i think obs to combine the audio and video and other background-y things for their live streams... all of which i've never done before. i just know it can be done. as for.. if the camera can record during this? i dunno? i didn't try that... i was just trying to use my d3200 as a webcam on discord. lol. i'm actually a beginner with the d3200. but i can tell you, i've done both of these methods, this dude's and the capture card route and you definitely get a better picture using the capture card. and.. there are better capture cards out there... the el gato brand seems to be everyone's favorite. but i found a dude who reviews capture cards and benchmarks their performances... he was in real shock about the quality of the certain cheap no name knock off usb capture thumb drive thingy i suggested you get. so yeah. using the usb capture card definitely helped me frame a shot and decide exactly where i wanted my camera aimed. much easier to see on a 55" tv i connected my computer to. lol... btw.. the a/v out method taught in this video... i can never seem to get the video to not be low quality and it just seems to not be able to focus... i really do recommend the capture card route, at least for the d3200

Thanks for the great video. I have been using the Gato Cam Link with my Nikon Z6: works well. Snapbridge software works well to adjust exposure/white balance, and especially to adjust focus when you are sitting back holding phone, not leaning forward to adjust camera. I am using the 24-70 f/4 lens. It might be nice to have something a little wider (desk is against a wall so I can't move camera back).

Then you need to pay more attention when you watch videos. He said the audio will STAY in sync if you use a capture card, funny thing is the guy in the video recommends using Elgato which is around $120, this is a rip off, you can buy much cheaper capture cards worth as little as $15 (yes $15) and they work just as well.

If you use obs you can intentionally set a delay to your audio to compensate for this.

He talked about the issue briefly because you can't use the camera's mic, so try a capture card if you can.

I love this video, and thanks a lot for doing it ! But please, do not use your blue yeti like that. It's not supposed to be aimed at you like a missile. You want the "Blue" logo facing towards you and set to cardioid, if_as it appears here_you're recording voice over, or are just using it for yourself. There are indeed more than one set-ups on this mic, I can promise you that none are suited for this position. I got the EOS 750d and for some reason, it is showing 7 coloured bars like as in the SMPTE colour bars, I have been working to solve this for over 3 hours now and i think im going to give up and just use my crappy old webcam, if someone has a way to fix this please reply to this comment, please and thank you.

Two problem with this. 1. Battery runs out fast (max you will get is 45mins) mine is rebel T5. 2. Audio Video is out of sync. Best use your mobile cam in similar way.

Don’t know if anyone else has mentioned this but I had canon 70d and 80d streaming with a black magic switcher and the camera sensors became too hot after 25 to 40 minutes causing the camera to shut down. Quite aggravating. So I have started using old iPhones (iPhone 6) with an app that cleans the HDMI output. Also need the lightening to HDMI adapter. No problems with that. Still use the black magic switcher.

does anyone have issues where their Canon DSLR shuts off and turns back on for like 1 second during a live stream? this keeps happening around the 30 minute mark regardless of whether I have auto-shut off feature turned on or off... I have an EOS Rebel SL2 connected via AC adapter and USB to macbook. Using the Webcam utility software zoom picks it up as a webcam but the camera keeps shutting off after the 30 minute mark...

Question. I have the 5D Mark IV I got it working with Zoom finally (with the webcam utility) but my problem is, the auto focus won't work. I am using the camera to broadcast my daughter's 1st bday to our family back east. So I'll be moving it around and wont be stationary. (I have various lenses but will using the 24-105) So I'll be moving, zooming but when it Zoom, it won't focus unless I do it manually. Thoughts? I've tried all the AI focus settings but in zoom, it doesn't focus. It works fine and auto focuses when I am not using it in Zoom (it even works in the canon remote utility) So I am guessing it could be something Zoom is doing or doesn't allow the camera to have all it's functions? Just found the issue (trick?) I was letting Zoom put the camera into live Mode/Movie mode (hearing the mirror click into the up position) without turning the selector switch on the camera. That's why the auto focus wasn't working !!! All you have to do is just turn the live mode/movie mode selector switch on camera either before you start a meeting or even after starting the meeting. So Zoom can still active the live mode/movie mode on the camera, but to get auto focus you have to turn the selector switch on the camera to live mode/movie mode. Then you also see the output on the back camera display and auto focus works !! Hope I explained that clearly. :)

I enjoyed this video - Thank you. I await a Sony a6400 camera and Sigma 16mm 1.4 lens. I already have the Elgato Cam link 4k and HDMI lead on standby. I'm not sure yet if I have enough bandwidth for 4K live-streaming but 1080P with Sony's super sharp autofocus and the blurry background with the lens, it should produce a great image on Zoom, Skype, FaceTime etc.
