Megabits (Mb) and megabytes (MB) sound identical, and their abbreviations use the exact same letters, but they certainly don't mean the same thing. It's important to be able to distinguish between the two when you're calculating things like the speed of your internet connection and the size of a file or hard drive. I always go for the highest quality so my main preset is Mp4 / h.264 / 1920x1080 / 30fps / Target Bitrate 30 Mbps / Max Bitrate 62.5 Mbps / Profile High / 2 Pass VBR / Audio Bitrate 320 / 48000 Hz

Great series, loved all the parts. I don't know why but young people love to drop the T's in Important and Buttons. I hear "imporuhant" or "Buuhons" but watch this video and listen to how you say important and button. You literally drop the "Ts" in both of those words. You are not the only content creator that does this. I hear it in all the younger content creators. I was always taught to annunciate correctly. All your videos are packed full of great tips, and thank you for all the time you put into these videos.

Another thing you can do is export a 10 second clip from your video instead of the whole thing. It will process fast and you can see the quality and get an idea of the file size. Sometimes the file size after export is really different than the estimated size as shown in the software. And with a 10 second clip not only can you see the quality but you can also multiply by a factor of 60 which gives you a file size for a 10 minute video. My problem is that I'm doing motovlogging and want the high quality, but the file size is nearly 2 gigs for a 20 minute video at 60 frames per second. With my slow internet it takes me 12 hours to upload a 2 gig file LOL. But the results look amazing.
@rocketbuilder3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for talking about highlighting your whole video so it will all export. I couldn't figure out why only 1 second of my video was exporting until u pointed that out. THANKS SO MUCH!

Great video Sean!! I use FCPX and just export my videos as a H.264 file. Keeps it small file size yet still has good quality too! You just hit File - Share - Master File - (then click settings) and Change the Video Codec to H.264. Hit "next" then save it wherever you like!!
@ThinkMediaTV5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the breakdown Nolan ... FCPX peeps check this out

Yeah... I'm not sure I agree with the bit-rate recommendations. I upload mostly in 60FPS because I do action drone videos. At first I was using the recommended 16Mbps at 1080p and I was noticing quite a bit of artifacts after it was uploaded and processed. Then I started exporting at the same bitrate as the source, generally 45Mbps for a GoPro Session 5 set to Protune and 1080p/60. As much as the file size is a problem at that rate, I could clearly see KZbin is doing a better job when crunching it. Your mileage may vary.

I was doing something similar to this previously and then I saw a video that Peter McKinnon put out about exporting in 4K even if its 1080p and switching to a 2:1 ratio which is optimized for mobile (IE: fills more of the screen on an iPhone XS or XS Max) Since trying that out it appears that KZbin doesn't compress my videos as much as previously and they look a bit more sharper. This probably isn't for everyone but I felt it was worth sharing.

First of all, great video! I'm a bit confused though - I did my first export no problem but on my last two videos I've edited, the Maximum bitrate is no longer an option. Basically no matter if I'm in Custom or one of the KZbin presets - Target Bitrate is the only option I get. Did Adobe remove this feature?

another tip is even through youtube says you can don't go below 30 fps or it can corrupt some frames/audio when youtube generates low res copies and caches them to servers. same with using anything other than h264 as youtube will re encode it to h264 causing slight to severe quality loss. using a lossless format isn't too bad but using h 265 will kill the quality.
