In short, Mark iii for better photography. Both are same for vlogging Mark iii 4K video, slow motion better, stabilizes jumpy movements (still has overheating issues, autofocus is frustrating, requires $100 continuous charger but use new Mac charger as substitute)

Had the G7X Mark II for a couple years and it died a few months ago. Got the m50 as a replacement based on your recommendation - haven't looked back. Love that the screen flips to the side instead of top which allows for the external mic. Still happy with the purchase and after this review, don't think we would've went with the Mark III. All of my vlogs are shot on G7x III and I love it. The firmware update really improved things and I only really experience issues with the autofocus on my face in very low light conditions. The mic input, 4k and USB-C are big advantages over the mkII.

I bought my G7x Mark II, used, off of the letgo app back in 2018 for around 300 dollars and still make great content on it for myself and freelance videos/ small business projects on the side. Lining up external audio and camera video in post is a minor hassle so I do love the mic input addition for the G7x Mark III but for vloggers & filmmakers who have had the G7x Mark II now for the past couple years, we already know- and most likely have- the necessary external mic gear to work our way around the subpar mic on the G7x Mark II. It may just be me and my brokeness, but I don't think the benefits outweigh the negatives at that price point. At least not enough to buy a camera that has a worse autofocus- which is one of the G7x's main attraction. I'm sticking with the G7x Mark II for now, even though the ability to use the camera while charging is a really great feature as well. Does anyone else think these are things Canon should have put in the G7x Mark II to begin with anyway? I mean come on Canon, why you have to be so expensive? Don't you know it's hard out here? No matter the price though, we will keep on buying because the skin tones Canon gives, compared to other cameras, is just so money... where was I going with this? Oh yeah, subscribe to ya boi. I use my Mark III primarily for group interviews and the microphone was the clincher for me. The hacks and adjustments to the Auto Focus problem are not/ was not a deal killer for me. Well paced and informative posting.

The Mark II was great in 2016 and still holds its own today but the Mark III release in 2019 is just unforgivable when it’s clearly targeted at the vlogging/creator market. Just get the M50 and save yourself the frustration.

Maybe it's me but ALL of the imagery I have seen with the MKII has been fabulous and amazing for what the camera was intended for. If I need better images, then I would move onto my DSLR. I'd rather have a proper focus and lower quality [others opinion] image than loss of shots while the MKIII tries to figure out focus.

I have a MKII and the MKIII has all the things I am looking for, with the continuous charging and on board mic input in a small size. I think they put enough changes into the MKIII for me to switch.

I just purchased a mark ii from a friend for vloggin and I’m very pleased! The thing is I saw a review on your channel for the mark ii where the image stabilization came with four options (none, low, standard, and high). Mine only has none and standard. To be honest, I am familiar with both cameras and I'd go for the m50 because it's more reliable. Mark iii is more portable but based on experience, you can count on the m50 more to produce more consistent video (and audio) quality as is. You can also swap out different lenses for the desired outcome with the m50 whereas the mark iii, you can't switch them out. The flip up screen is better for vlogging and walking around on the g7x. The flip out screen is better if you're someone who tends to look at the viewfinder a lot-- the mark iii makes it tempting to constantly see how the video's looking if you're filming yourself since it's right above the lens. It comes down to your needs and personal preference. If portability and the flip-out screen are deal breakers, then I'd go with the mark iii. For vacations, the g7x mark ii or iii and for photography (because of the lenses) I'd say m50 but they're both great. M50 might have more depth and dimension in the photos though

Art of the Crowe 500 is pretty steep for a small little camera I got mine about a month ago I love it and have started vlogging and it’s been great camera so far I wish the auto focus was a little better tho

Not being able to afford expensive equipment is actually a benefit. You don't get wrapped up in the buying fad trap and end up paying hundreds of dollars for a piece of equipment that is defective from the factory and the developers of the manufacturer clearly do not have the skill set fix. Seriously. How hard is it to compare the auto focus code of the Mark II which works, with the auto focus code of the Mark III which does not work, to determine what is wrong with the code? If the code is the exact same, then the problem is with the servos that are being used in the camera to auto focus. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure it out. But you do have to have the analytical skills which the IT staff at Canon is clearly missing.

I'm pretty happy with my $100 camera and don't need anything more then that right now. Those cameras are more of a want than a need right now. Until I am able to be more active I don't need anything that fancy right now. I do like being able to stay in the loop though

I couldn't care less about vlogging features. I want to know how it performs in everyday video shooting, handheld with moving subjects - Not on a tripod. From other reviews it seems Canon hasn't changed much from 10 year old models that find it impossible to stay locked on anything. The cameras act like they have severe A.D.D. and constantly bounce from one subject to another. I was hoping this one would be different and maybe Canon learned something from Sony over the last few years. But.... NOPE.
