Great video. Is there a reason why after I went to the trade tab, enter DOG and when I right clicked on the call option for 8/17/18, I selected one of the options on the drop down menu (I just picked one because I don't know what those mean) and a blank screen came up with the message "earnings data available for stock symbols only". What am I missing here?

please tell me, in the risk profile tab, we observe the profitability chart for the option, there are two lines, blue and purple. What exactly is each line responsible for? Do I understand correctly that the purple line shows profit or loss on any day before the expiration day and the blue line shows profit or loss on the day of expiration?

i've been struggling with understanding why the percentage shown in the "Risk Profile" tab never matches the "Prob. ITM" column in the "Trade" tab. For example, in 4:13 the probability ITM on the CALL side is 17.47% but in 0:58 for the 133 strike the Prob.ITM is 23.83%. I know you're showing the break-even price probability but even if you set the price side to exactly 133 the ITM % still don't match in the tabs. I never could find an explanation to this and maybe you know!

Hi all, sorry to bother but does thinkorswim also provides you with the expected value of the profit (probability weighted). Here I see a likely low profit vs an unlikely giant loss.. I guess the expected value will still be negative

Very well done, thank you for the detail walk through!! At the end you mention the Prob of Success % for the Spread strategy being +90%. How does this apply when simulating the Iron Condor or any other delta neutral strategy? For example does the prob% on the right side only apply to the CALL segments portion of the strategy and the Left Side Prob to the PUT segments or does the prob apply to the entire strategy?

Hey Hector. Good question. Basically it all comes down to where your breakeven points are. With an Iron Condor for example, you'll set the breakeven points in the same way. Then the probability ITM number should show the probability of the stock staying within that range and that is your Probability of Success.. You'll also see two other numbers with an Iron Condor (or any other delta neutral strategy where you have exposure on both sides). For example, you might see Prob ITM of the profit range as 70% (that's your prob of success), and you might see 13% on the right side. and 17% on the left side. This would mean your probability of success is 70%. Your probability of losing money on the call side is 13%, and the probability of you losing money on the put side is 17%... So your probability of losing money on either side is 30% (17+13)... Hope that helps!

Actually, you can use either, you just need to know how to interpret the numbers.. For example, if the Probability ITM number says 15%, then the Probability OTM number would be 85%. They are just inverse of eachother.... 85 + 15 = 100... Prob ITM + Prob OTM will always equal 100. Just pick one that makes the most sense to you and go with that one! I prefer Prob. ITM but that's just personal preference.

At the bottom right of the analyze page there is a button that allows you to copy a trade from the clipboard and it can then be analyzed or actually added to the trades that you put in manually.. I understand that, but what I want to know is that same button has a choice to import or export the trades. When you click it it will try to access a file. Does that mean you can put more than one trade in a text file and import several trades at once. That would be great if you could do that. Does anyone have any idea how that works.. Its very important to me and any info to get this answered would be greatly appreciated.

The Long Box spread is simply a combination of a Long Put Vertical and a Long Call Vertical. We do have a video on the Long Vertical here --> kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4S5pKqOZ7uSrKc However, this strategy makes absolutely no sense UNLESS there is a pricing inefficiency in the option markets... which we know does not exist in today's markets. (Video on this here --> kzbin.info/www/bejne/pWq3l6CadtClmK8) Stay away from this spread. It is a good arbitrage strategy to capitalize on pricing inefficiencies in the markets and achieve a risk-free return... But since pricing inefficiencies don't really exist in today's markets, then it's useless. You won't gain an edge or make money with any type of box spread. After trade fees and bid/ask differential, you'll be almost guaranteed to lose money. Hope that helps! :)

Unfortunately, tos isn't great at reporting. What we typically do is track this manually in a spreadsheet by creating a trade journal.
