There's a book called "The Polyester Prince " by Hamish Mcdonald. It exposed the actual business practices deployed by the trade cartel at that time. No wonders, with the might of money and power it was banned in India. We as a society resort to Hagiography rather than a true biography.

I don't understand how nobody else could see what Ambani's strategy (polyester part) was and replicate, there is no business masterclass and just simple common sense
@adityasen2281Ай бұрын
I am no expert, but the basic reason he could do this and others couldn't was because he already had contacts and networks in the middle east, who he could export to easily with the conditions he wanted and get those import credits. Others simply didn't have the contacts there, you need to understand this was the 1960s and 70s where there was no internet, information reached a lot slower. Building network abroad was not easy for an Indian unless you had loads of money to go there often and make the contacts and build trust. Also, probably everyone didn't identify the potential of polyester and didn't get into the business early, by the time they got into it he was already an established player and had control in the market. And when he saw competiton growing, he was always a step ahead of others to switch to methods to get directly to his customers to sell the product and eventually build his own brand.
