The black goat in Harrenhal is I'm assuming a nod to book readers. Vargo Hoat, left out in GoT and essentially replaced by "Locke", had the The Black Goat of Qohor (his home city) as his Coat of Arms. He meets a very nasty fate at Harrenhal thanks fo Ser Gregor.

Yes, the same goes for Melys. I feel she can call it a day, being wounded and having overwhelmed her opponent. Dragons possess their own will and discretion, with more control and awareness of their body state. Yet, they still follow commands and choose glory, fighting to the death because they know their rider well. Melys loves her rider’s character and willingly gives her all.

Meleys really lived up to her title as the Red Queen, one of the fastest and most fearsome of the dragons in The Dance. RIP. I think the slight grin on Rhaenys’ face when she sees Aegon and Sunfyre shows her overwhelming confidence in Meleys, as if Sunfyre poses no threat at all. Indeed, Meleys makes quick work of Sunfyre. Despite the “help” from Vhagar, Meleys has already severely wounded Sunfyre (rips through the chest, damage to the wing) while only losing a single horn from her head, by the time Vhagar shows up. And when Meleys faces Vhagar, it’s worth noting that despite the size difference, when the dragons lock claws and spiral to the earth, it’s Vhagar who is thrown to the ground while Meleys simply flies away. I thinks it’s truly astounding how fearsome Meleys is and I just know Rhaenys was so proud of her.

Rhaeyns had multiple times to leave but she continued to battle alone the biggest and strongest dragon. She made her choice and that was death. Her and meleys could've flown back to dragonstone and alert Rhaenarya that sunfyre and aegon are down and vhagar is wounded. Rhaenarya jake and baela could've joined meleys with cyrax vermax, moondancer and seasmoke. finish them off. And team black wins but that would be to easy. 😅

By the time the fly there would be nothing. It would take forever to even locate vhagar, and when you do you have to hope you’re not alone while everyone else is also searching. I really hope you don’t think it’s that easy. Their best bet was to take over kings landing, while Vhagar, and the King were gone. Along with Cole and a large army.

I could be wrong, but after a rewatch, I saw her go and turn back to fight Vahygar. They had their first exchange, but after Vahygar fell to the ground, she was headed back to the battle, but looked at her Dragon and they turned 180 degrees. If you looked at the direction they were flying, it was towards the bay and away from the battle, but right as they passed the castle, Vahygar did a sneak attack from below. I don't feel she was turning to reengage. It seemed more like she was flying back to Dragonstone. But got hit on the way back. Just rewatch the scene. It's actually very clear.

Animals kill each other all the time, for food or for territory without any human involvement. Especially large carnivores with their large dietary requirements, they definitely derserve all the hurt that they dealt to other animals. This felt like game of thrones coming back to life. The show is great but right when the battle began I got goosebumps because it INSTANTLY felt right up there with the OG game of thrones. The 2 year wait was worth it for that shot of the big fella flying over the battlefield before all hell broke loose. Amazing episode.

I think that the dropping of the dragon figure that Alicent gifted Viserys is symbolic to Aegon and his dragon Sunfyre, as the book describes, "One of Sunfyre's wings is half-ripped off his body, grounding him near the castle." Alicent symbolically dropping the figurine and a singluar wing breaking off may represent how Sunfyre and Aegon II are left at the end of the episode due to Alicent's hand. It also could mean that Aegon's life has been put at risk thanks to alicent as she handles the figure and she drops it, meaning she put her own children (specifically Aegon and Helaena) in harms way and why Aegon did what he did, to try to prove to everyone that he was not useless, a thought put in his head by ALICENT. The outcome of the war and Alicent's children just shows that the fear of Rhaenrya putting her children to the sword to defend her claim makes Alicent put her own children at risk first, so as to not let this fear come true, with that she herself makes her children have the fates that they ended with at the end of the Dance of Dragons.

Meleys would bite in to that same wound she caused earlier on her side to make Vhagar release her, but all she can do is glide down and descend as Vhagar makes turn and uses her weight to catch up and burn her from behind. Meleys tail legs and back is burned Rhaenys caughts on fire and as the dragon falls to the ground Vhagar jumps on it and bites it 2x behind head." (Rhaenys burned died bore she reached ground. Meleys was put out of missery by Vhagar.)

It’s a massive, heavy and old dragon. The element of surprise is its best offensive when paired amongst anything of its caliber. Plus Meleys was injured so she didn’t have the usual swiftness and Arrax was an inexperienced prepubescent.

When Aemond sees Aegon coming to battle, he first waits instead of joining forces, maybe hoping Aegon will be injured or even killed Then he uses fire on Meleys+Sunfyre, instead of Vhaegar directly attacking Meleys with its claws or teeth Eventually he draws his sword in front of a badly injured Aegon...I think we can safely assume Aemond was going to finish him off if Criston hadn't shown up first...

I thought it was so cool that rhaenys is shown tightening her riders belt when shes preparing to fight vhagar. Its a pretense to when daemon fights aemond…perhaps hes aware that rhaenys was basically “trapped” whilst she was tangled with vagar, and this is why daemon goes into his fight with aemond, without his saddle belt! We see how dragons fight; theyre like birds. They crash into eachother and get tangled up. And when ur “bird” is the size and strength of vhagar”, ur at a disadvtangeee…well, unless ur caraxes and u got a long ass, super flexible neck that can wriggle into tight corners. And it provides a chance to slay the other rider.
