In Hawk's defense it's not like s/he knew Meredith turning into a red lyrium statue didn't completely kill her and it wasn't known that Darkspawn Magisters work like Arch Demons when you kill them at the time. Nobody knew what to do when a talking emissary showed up claiming to be one of those who once stepped into the fade and if myth is to be believed caused all of the World ending catastrophes of modern Thedas.

You got one thing wrong. Tevinter has a different Divine than the rest of Thedas. He's known as the Imperial Divine and he's always male, showing their split from the Chantry in Orlais.

"It's never explained why he didn't bring his mother back" bruh the whole implication is that she was abusive and not to mention if you know anything from playing the games, tevinter parents "breed" their children for more potent magic bloodlines rather than actually loving their children or even seeing them as anything other than a tool, only except instead of "master " and "slave" its Father/Mother and Son/Daughter which is what probably twisted Rezarin's view of his "siblings", they are still slaves to him, he doesn't account for their feelings or anything and never bothered to ask Miriam what she thinks or even question himself whether or not Neb would be okay with being brought back, it was why Neb destroyed his own body, the artifact could bring anyone back from the dead as they were in life, it never said that it was a guarantee, "could" not "would", the spirit is not commanded it is only offered

One thing that’s important that this summary kind of glosses over is that at some point, Rezarin starts treating Neb and Miriam more like slaves than siblings. He refuses to take Miri’s feelings into consideration or listen to what she has to say, insists that she and her brother need a purpose, uses her ex as a hostage, tries to kill her friends in order to punish her for disobedience, and calls them both ingrates when they refuse to go along with it. Perhaps this started as a desire to make things right with his “family” but in the end he saw them more as possessions than family. Whether he was always that way, or changed due to his trauma, magister’s upbringing, or the abuse of blood magic, is a matter of debate. Regardless, this context is important because without it it’s easy to see rezarin as less villainous than he actually is.

One of the other things that makes it difficult to see just how bad he really was, is the knight commander, who is a fairly sympathetic character, but it’s important to note she is so down bad that rezarin can basically do no wrong in her eyes. I think this is the most important thing to consider, at the beginning his intentions seem genuine and he seems very sympathetic but he slowly kind of descends into madness or maybe just reveals his true colors, up to you which, i think the latter is the case though I think how he was raised, snd the abuse he may have suffered made a lot of this happen. He also does become more unstable and unhinged but I do not think it fundamentally changed anything much

Dude, She tried to stab him as soon as she saw him, blaming him for her brother's death, when his mother was to blame for everything and she knows it deep down, but she needs to project that anger and guilt onto someone, which is frankly unfair and immature. Rezaren was self-centered, yes, but he wasn't evil, He never held a grudge or blamed her for the death of his mother. It was the way in which Miriam and her group sent everything to shit that plunged him into madness, they literally caused the death of half the city, many innocent among them. As charismatic as they are, we cannot forget that this was a group of thieves who took more lives than they saved.

"You know that dragon is going to ravage the countryside" - shrug Show was poorly written no doubt. Rez was who I was rooting for until the last episode when he randomly killed some innocent dude. (didn't make sense because he literally went out of his way a dozen times prior to that to avoid killing literal thieves) Should've been the hero. Or they should've shown him being cruel AF as a kid. But 100% of our memories we are shown of him is them having fun and him being nice.

I'm a big DA fan and I loved the show. Watched it in one sitting. I liked that it didn't waste time to explain and set up everything but is pretty much aimed at people who played the games and dives straight into the story. It also goes quite dark thematically which I liked. The characters were all fun apart from maybe Qwydion who was very one note and mostly irrelevant to the plot. I love me some Ashly Burch though, so hopefully they flesh her out more in the future. The ending gave me chills. I WILL HAVE MY WAR!!

Qwydion was my fav! lol To me, she seemed like a mix of Merrill's and Isabela's personalities put inside a Qunari body. I do agree that there just wasn't enough time in the show to flesh her out. Amazing twist at the end.

Here are the most important thing that I learn from playing Dragon Age games (which can also be applied to this ending). YOU NEVER TRUST THE MAGES !!! - Most of them are selfish maniacs, they are either thirsty for power or revenge or both. - Ambition is in their blood and they will do anything to achieve it. - While it’s true that anyone is capable of betrayal, mages are the only ones with the most destructive power. When mages go rogue, the troubles caused will be real disaster.

Neb's spirit destroyed his body before the explosion. I had to go back several times to make sense of it. Apparently, Rezaren was able to summon Neb's spirit, but didn't have control over it. When spirit Neb's fingers made contact with his body, there was a bright blue/white light. He pushes the demon out and simultaneously does something to his body that causes it to disapate into blue light and then vanish completely. Rezaren couldn't command his spirit, and he destroyed his body so that Rezaran could never try again. At least, that's why I think he did it. I'm sure this was meant to show that he was finally free. That's why Rezaron called him ungrateful shortly after. This all happened right before the grenade exploded. Roland gestured for Lacklon to wait, presumably to see what would happen with Neb. When his body disappeared, Roland yelled "now!" and the grenade was thrown. Among the resulting explosion, implosion, explosion sequence, we see Neb's very calm spirit going back into the Fade. Sorry for the super long comment. I had a lot of trouble following what was happening in the battle scene because it was all moving so fast. I went back and paused at different parts several times until it made sense.

@@Fenrispro I never said he didn't... I agree. Rezaren cared for them, but in a really dysfunctional way. Villains are much more interesting when they're not black and white. What is very apparent and black and white is that they did not care for Rezaren. He romanticized the relationship he had with them. Probably bc he envied their close bond and never had anything like that in his own life. The only times Rezaren lashed out at them was when they did something that showed how little they cared about him. Granted, Neb only did it once bc he was a mindless corpse for almost the entire show. Trying to force affection where there isn't any is a bad move. I can understand why Rezaren acted the way he did, but that doesn't mean his actions are justifiable.

I also miss Gaider. I don't recall if he was the creator of the entire world and lore, or if he was head of the development team. I know he wrote the books that I have. His leaving Bioware has me so worried for the future of the series. I hope they stay true to the incredible world-build and lore in the first three games. I'm sure you saw all the cameos. Cassandra and Leliana are hard to miss. Then Josephine, Cassandra, and Leliana would be hard to miss because this video pauses on the scene they appear in. That ending. Wow. The only other thing I caught was that Dorian's family name, Pavus, was mentioned, but now I don't remember quite where or in what context. If you noticed anything I missed, please let me know.

I really like the series and am looking forward to a second season. I really liked the designs of characters, creatures and landscape, the animations, the action scenes and most of the characters (I liked Qwydion, Roland and Rezaren the most) but unfortunately the first season felt a bit short with only six episodes and because of that it felt a bit rushed at times.

So about this series, we can assume that the inquisition is still on and Vivian maybe is the divine because we see Cassandra and Leliana in skyhold or when they ask to retrieve the circulum infinitus. I don't know where this series' timeline is, but I assume it is after the events of dragon age inquisition since this series is a setup to dread wolf.

I think the PC character is still the head of the Inquisition but they just can't represent them in animated form since you could have them look however you wanted.

I took it as happening shortly after Corypheus gets toasted. Hira is suggesting the next thing the inquisition should do is destroy Tevinter and no one is on board

Varric was in control during the 2 years between the end of Inquisition and Trespasser. If the Inquisition is disbanded, it happens at the end of Trespasser, so the Red Templars could have taken control of Kirkwall after that (which would also explain why Varric teams up with whoever the new hero is in DA4, because he's no longer responsible for leading Kirkwall).

I loved this show and am desperately awaiting Season 2. I think something that could work well if the writers decide to do it is tackling the hypocrisy of Hira's actions. In the beginning of the series, she was encouraging Miriam to stop running from her past, but the whole time she was letting herself be consumed by her past and her desire for vengeance. It seems to me that she truly does love Miriam, but she's let her obsession with vengeance take over her entire being. Maybe it's just me, but I would love to see a scene like this where Hira gets called out for her hypocrisy, bonus points if it's between her and Miriam.

For me, Rezaren is the dude that could've been a morally grey character, but the show said screw that, had the cast treat him like shit, and made him into a villain, just so we'd really know who to root for. I think it's a good series it makes a great thing to tied us over with until they make the next DA game. I always felt a little sorry for Merriam the fact she lost all of her family and the person she lived the most to the hate that Taventer seems to make us so sad I hope in S2 that they give her a good ending but this is Dragon Age we're talking about here so it's highly unlikely at this point... There are two Divines. The Divine we see and choose in DA:I is the "White Divine" while the Divine we hear about in the show is the Tevinter Divine or the "Black Divine". Think of how in our world the East-West Schism happened but it was Dragon Age

Honestly if this show is the best their storytelling ability is, I would rather them just quit while they're ahead. The entire plot can be summed up in 5 minutes and that's being gracious. It's like the main writer came up with it while on the can and everyone ran with it. The story is so predictable and the pacing all over the place aside from the 1st episode. Definitely needed to be more than 6 30 minute episodes so they could actually tell a story.

Rezaren was straight up the hero of this show, grew up with an abusive mother, genuinely cared for his friends and considered them family in a society that treats elfs like trash. He did his best to always find a solution were nobody had to die. His plan was to become the ruler and abolish slavery with his siblings by his side. The main characters are straight up a bunch of criminals who just murdered whoever stood in their way. ,,Hey guys i got a plan to save my girlfriend, all we have to do is murder every guard in the palace and release a dragon which is going to slaughter thousands of innocents (including children and of course also elfs)". The main character is so entitled and selfcentered, its impossible to like her.

He could accomplish that without his slave/sibling. He is forcing one to serve him and he desecrated another's dead body and put a demon in it. He thinks they are his siblings but he sees them as an object to possess. If he wanted to do good, he could have done it without them. If you truly love someone, you let them be free. Also the dragon is a living thing. Keeping it trapped is pure torture. If it is a menace, why not kill it? Why torture it for 300 years by making it into a stone? It's his pure delusional greed.

Ngl Miri gave me really bad edgy OC vibes, i mean throwing "I survived things that make the deep roads look like a pleasent stroll." at the dwarf on the first episode turned me off the character completely as a DA:O fan since that questline lowkey traumatized me playing it as a young teenager.

Yeah, I completely understand. DA:O is my favorite game in the series so far, but the deep roads are horrific. I don't like the main character all that much either. I like almost every other character better. Although I don't really like her, I am able to excuse most of her angsty bs by telling myself that 1) she's really young; 2) character building was sacrificed due to time constraints (if they had been given ten episodes, I think they would have made her more relatable); 3) that we did see character development from her even with those time restraints; and 4) and that she'll most likely continue to display growth in the next season. I really hope there's a next season.

She is trapped in a red lyrium crystal, I would think she probably does everything to get out of it. You also don't know if it's actually Meredith or Meredith possessed by a deamon. Who knows how the lyrium affected her. I don't think it was made out she's in control of Kirkwall.

I've played every DA game many times, and the thing about it no version is canon. In my main inquisition game I made claim that my female elf mage (to romance solas) was no herald, and in DA 2, Hawk was Viscount of Kirkwall, so how could Meredith or red templares have a presence there? Also a Qunari mage? The implications of that also aren't really addressed. I did like the dragon didn't murder her in the one scene, as they are thought to be decents of dragons themselves, so nice detail there. Other than those few inconsistencies, I thought the action was incredible and it gave us more insight into Tevinter which DA5 is going to placed, makes you think which characters we will see from the series in the game! :D The last thing is not really a complaint, but its a Netflix show. So does EVERYONE have to be gay? lmao.

Here the writing is rushed and themes are more complex, so the choices the characters make matter more. There are some decisions that lack context, so at least I find it difficult to feel the characters. Also, their decisions are fucked up - like freeing the dragon that potentially can kill hundreds of people, including palace slaves.

The show was horrific. The story was terrible. The Animation beautiful. The combat energetic (besides the plot-armor heroines). The heroine characters interesting but horrifical implemented. The only decently developed and likable characters were the Black Templar Knight-Commander and the Magister. To be honest this show was stupid 🙄. I really hate miriam and her gang, they did things without reasons and acted foolishly. I felt for Rezaren(dont know if i spelt that correctly), that dude was honestly a better character alongside the commander woman. He did nothing wrong that triggered hate from miriam, its so annoying how her girlfriend betrayed her yet she still begged her to say.
