This episode I am taking off the stock exhaust on my 92 camaro RS and replacing it with a 3" (3 inch) catback flowmaster exhaust

Really disappointed that neither shop had the guts to tackle the headers. It would have been that much better. The price difference between getting the "custom" mid pipe built would have offset the cost of having a reputable shop that does headers remove broken bolts/studs. Either way, not our car, its yours and you have your reasons. Good looking car, fun build, keep the quality content comingg.

Love watching old timers work. That exhaust Tech knew his shit, you could tell from watching him work. Knew what he wanted, what bends he wanted and it all worked out. Nice Vid, cant wait to see the 350 swap. Had a friend who bought my aunts old IROC back in the late 90's He pulled the motor and built it into a a Cam'd NA 383. Car was pretty mean.

I just got a 86 Trans AM, Removed a bunch of surface rust and got primer on it to seal it up. And my exhaust is stock but muffler is rusted out. When you said leave it and primer it I almost choked on my Copenhagen.

You can get easily 20 more hp with those headers. Hopefully one day they get thrown on. I have the a 92 rs 305 tbi 5 speed. I already have some longtubes I’m going to put on it. Eventually.

I read somewhere you had slop in the steering and replaced the center link. If you still have play, look at the rag joint in the steering shaft. They go bad and wobble a lot. Jeep Cherokee shafts fit if you clock the shaft, astro vans fit right in and both delete the rag joiny

Yea well I'm trying to get it as close to an IROC as possible, so I will be doing a 350 conversion at some point and then I will put in a whole new headers back exhaust system

@@beardedreviews I just did a 350 conversion this summer with a mild gm crate engine, you will love having a different mill, though with my crate engine because of the cam profile my car has a much lumpier idle.

WTF man. you let them talk you into only making a little bit of extra sound. They screwed you on the piping. The exhaust has Mandel bent piping and the stuff they bent is crimped down which limits exhaust flow. The reason for the headers to help pull the exhaust out of the combustion chamber. You had a great deal to begin and the shop just shit all over the deal! Disappointed by the Apex shop not meeting expectations.

Eric Cope I agree with you 100% I put Edelbrock headers on my 87 GTA, no cats, 3" stainless pipe to an 80 series Flowmaster with a 3" inlet and dual 2 1/2 outlets. Sounds Badass! Especially with the cam that's in it!!

I hope your going for looks and sound and not power, because I had an 92 RS Z03 package that had the L03 305. Low end torque was good but the car wasn't fast by any means. Fastest car you could have gotten that year was the L98, but they only came with a 700 R4 trans. Even L98's needed a better intake to breathe in the higher RPMs. Now an L98 with a good intake and a 6-speed swap is a good car

@@ferlen00 I have an 87 GTA with an SLP intake, cam and heads and a K&N cold air intake. Edelbrock headers with 3" stainless pipe, no cats with an 80 series Flowmaster with dual outlets! Sounds and runs Badass!! Has a 700R4 that's been built and an 8.8 disc brake rear end with 3.73 gear's. I also have an 04 GTO with the LS motor, but the GTA is faster than the GTO. Haven't done anything to the GTO yet, can't decide what to do. I really want to do an LS swap and a 6-spd on the GTA. I love the GTA, I've had it for 23yrs. I bought a set of Gold GTA wheels from Hawks Motor Sports in a 17×9 put BFGoodrich G- Force 275/40's front and rear, looks Badass! Has the wide lip on all 4 wheels, unlike the factory 16×8's with the narrow lip on the rears. They're made by the same people who made the original ones, Japanese Wheel Alloys. Makes a huge difference in the looks and getting better traction. I love the 3rd gens!!

I noticed the catalytic converter was remove and the air injection tube was cut. What did you do with the rest of the tubing from the air pump? Did you remove the air pump/smog equipment all together?

The spot the pipe runs across oilpan use some header wrap helps with oil temps

Very slick! I was kind wondering what a set of Firehawk ronal's 17x9.5 would look like with the inserts painted the same green as the car. That car would also be a great recipient for an LS1 or LS3 conversion. . .it's the perfect candidate.

I'm going to make it as much of an IROC as I can, so I'm gonna do a 350 5.7 in there, but probably do an EFI conversion

An LS swap is very expensive!! There's so much you have to do, have to build the suspension to keep from twisting the body, and that takes a lot of money just for that!! Not to mention buying and building an LS, have to put at least an 8.8 rear end, but really need a 9". Then, you might as well convert it to a 6-spd manual to make it a complete Badass street car!! If done right, will cost around 25K!! And, that's doing a lot of the work yourself!!

What's in it a 305 or 350?Headers are overall better, chances are low a bolt will break but it would have taken all day, I've done it in all my 3rd gens its worth it in these cars

Those headers will make a bigger difference than going to a bigger exhaust going back. The 305 headers are a horrible flowing design. Taking off the manifolds is no issue on an old Chevy. Getting headers in these cars kinda sucks, you have to pop the steering shaft off for the drivers side header, and you can only get to the back header bolt on the passenger side from under the car, but that's not an issue when you have a lift.

Flowmaster is shown to be more restrictive than other exhaust systems. Especially compared to SLP. Plus they have that tin can sound. SLP is much better!

Yes the exhaust system changes the note of the engine sound. So different exhaust systems make different tones and rumbles and volumes than the stock system

It's just a flowmaster exhaust. Not sure the exact model number, but I doubt they made more than one version to fit the 305 tbi.

Need to improve your stance on that car the wheels help but 4th gen rear swap will give your rear disc and wide rear end and 1 1/2 in spacers on the front even it out. Did to my iroc and stance looks sexy

Don't do the rear end swap. You'll get way too much poke, in fact they'll stick out past your fenders. It'll look hillbilly. Plus it's still a weak 10 bolt.

The difference between the 3rd and 4th gen rear end is that they are like 1 1/2" inch or 2" wider than a third gen rear end, plus you can get disk brakes but you would have to do a brake booster conversion or something like that I believe.

Jaden Schram 2 inches wider, you can get a proportion spring from the 4th gen, but you still are stuck with a crappy rear end. 300 bucks for disk brakes is hardly worth it when your tires poke past the fenders and you still have a grenade under the rear.

Should of put the headers on way better then stock manifolds and make the best exhaust sound way better
