the conclusion about transitioning from the individual changes to the collective changes, and whether there is hope for the future was very welcome. I liked the answer of nurturing new generations, but also believing that into each and every one's individuation path, there is the seed for something greater than ourselves. It sounds cheesy but I believe that following your inner calling is the way to give back to the collective in the most meaningful manner, even if you don't know how it could help the world on a more massive or ecological scale or not. Just thinking about it, but if the acorn is your inner calling and the oak tree your full potential (or one of the many possible potentials), then we often forget how this tree, while distinct from the others, is part of the collective forest. It has roots that connect to other trees, has a canopy to protect other plants and soil from the heat, enables more water to stay available etc... overall makes the forest stronger. And probably your own fully grown tree benefited from other trees help, bigger ones that came before you and "graduated" in a way. The cycle of life haha But more seriously, our superficial society is about taking taking and taking, making you stay in the acorn phase. It's the puer state, the adolescent modern western society as you mentionned. And with age (or not) you slowly realize that your full potential is not (just) about yourself, it's not about taking more and more, but rather about giving back all of what was taken, but in your very own transmuted way. And by giving back, you fulfill your calling, which is to become a tree of the forest, and reintegrate the cycle from which you were cut off in the acorn phase.
