Thirlmere Festival of Steam 2016 - Saturday 5th March

Saturday the 5th to Sunday the 6th of March marked the 27th annual Thirlmere Festival of Steam.
This video includes footage from the first day, the 5th of March. It features 3016 assisted by diesel 4803 operating the Buxton shuttles and 6029 hauling the Thirlmere Flyer. Meanwhile at Trainworks 3265 is on cab visit duty in the amphitheater while 3642 sits alongside the Trainworks platform. There are also some miscellaneous shots of all the other steam powered contraptions on display. I hope you enjoy!

This is great! I have two questions though. Do you know if 3016s whistle was replaced after this event? And do you know why the thirlmere flyer wasn’t operating at the 2018 thirlmere festival of steam?

Thanks! 3016 has an NSWGR 5 chime but I can't say I know anything about it being replaced. It's possible it's been cleaned/refurbished or indeed swapped out for another. In regards to the 2018 Thirlmere Flyer, the loop line from Picton to Thirlmere was out of action and had an axle load restriction on it. It's since undergone an upgrade and has some new timber sleepers.
