Snuff is powdered tobacco. Usually put in the mouth between the gum and cheek then you spit it out. Also, it can be snorted to get the effects of nicotine.

You're right about the value of snuff (powdered tobacco) and perfume bottles. I have a collection of them. Sometimes difficult to make the difference between modern and antique ones. Snuff bottles usually have an ivory spoon attached to the top.

Mike, those unique belts that Jessica was unpacking look more like cumberbunds (sp?) worn by groomsmen at a wedding. The ornate one with the gold detail might have been worn by a member of a mariachi band member..... which could explain the smaller than average guitar that caught your eye when you were deciding to bid.

Great finds Snuff bottles were used during the Qing dynasty to contain powdered tobacco. Smoking tobacco was illegal during the Qing dynasty, but the use of snuff was allowed because the Chinese considered snuff to be a remedy for common illnesses such as colds, headaches and stomach disorders. Therefore, snuff was carried in a small bottle like other medicines. The snuff bottle replaced the snuff box used by Europe😊
