The genuine signed Vostok mesh strap gets very good reviews and is far better than the link bracelet, costs about the same and you're equipping your watch with a genuine branded replacement.

I think what makes it feel sort of gaudy is the electric blue color. In my mind, there's just no way to tame that.

I got that orange strap on a Amphibia SE model it has a orange bezel insert and a white dial. I swapped it out for a dark rust orange and black leather aviator strap, it's perfect now . I used the orange Meranom strap on my Seiko SRP311 it looks great and I actually bought that watch, "head" only! I love the Meranom rubber straps they don't collect lint or dust like some high cost others (Seiko). Meranom has some "Tropic" style that are very nice also. Thanks for the video! I now have 4 Vostok and a vintage Raketa "dress" watch! It's really hard to beat the value and quirkiness of them, you never see one coming up next to you! ☺️👍

Yes, it's all true. I own this exact Vostok model and went through the same process with the straps as you did. The original was just way off and the replacement blue rubber strap was just plain uncomfortable. Instead of the mesh/milanese strap though, I ordered another NATO style blue strap, but this time with much less obtrusive stainless-steel hardware keepers and this seems to work. This watch has now become my favourite watch in the collection with its stunning intense blue look. This is a now keeper. Pure Vostok diver's blue joy!

I put a masar mesh on my 420 Amphibian, from amazon, was in the £20 region. Looks far better quality than that cheap one & is really comfortable to wear. Like it so much I bought another for my Orient Ray 2.

Just ordered my 650852 today. The Nato strap doesn't look fancy either. I consider them cool (Russian) field/diver watch straps. The orange rubber strap works for NY Mets fans too! Good video. Thanks.

Why would you take the pins out after you've mounted them ? AliExpress have awesome HEAVY Shark Mesh straps for $10. I've got three of them in 18, 20 & 22mm. They're a real pain to cut to size, but you only need to do that once. The Milanese mesh strap you got is more suitable for a Casio.

the chainmail band looks farr better as the watch is a biggy , yours would look better on a slim watch

I am new at all of this but isn't that a Zulu strap? Russian people would not use NATO.
