I believe the wii you're referring to that played backup dvdr was probably using and old dvd drive flash exploit which only works on specific drive models most people did it for dvd movie playback and gamecube games using dios mios full (not the light version) and is not often used anymore due to being able to brick the console if done wrong plus finding wiis with those specific dvd drives is getting harder and harder Enjoying your videos by the way also RIP trashbox 360

NO WAY that wii with 4 dvds in it was mine! It was orginally my aunts but she gave it to me. The reason why their is four disks in it is my little sister shoved them all in there. It was orginally 6 disks but we got some out. I hope someone else buys it and has the same fun my aunt and i did back in the day.

The 'Corn' most likely was unintentional, see CFG USB Loader (which is the USB Loader the modded Wii had) stores it's assets from the menus and themes as .png files, so the photo channel will read all of the image files it can find on the SD card.

The amount of times I've been burned when buying items that are "untested" is crazy. Saying that something is untested is a get out of jail free card for the seller. I've bought consoles with 3 or 4 separate faults that would not all happen at the same time, you just know that it's been put together with faulty parts. I used to buy things untested and most of the time they would work, I don't bother anymore cause it's usually a scam...

I 100% expect it to have KNOWN failures, and assume the seller is being deceptive. I'd only buy it if it's a good price, and I'm prepared/able to fix most common issues. Sometimes you can still get lucky though. I was recently shocked to buy a near mint "untested" DS lite for CAD $45. Not a single problem with it. 🤷‍♂️

Also the reason that Wii won’t play burned dvd’s, it has a newer disc drive (D3-2) in it than the other Wii, and the newer drive won’t accept burned disks of any kind. Many newer Wii’s and all Black Wii’s have this drive, per MattKC

The Homebrew Channel lists homebrew apps on the SD card. If there's no SD card or there are no homebrew apps on the SD card the screen will be empty.

It can also be configured to load apps from USB, that might also be why nothing was there. Push I think the 1 button to bring up the storage selector.

just to clarify, you could install games on the 360 in order to increase load times, you still need the disc in the tray to play them. this is what happened here with GTA IV in the first console, it was an installed game via a disc, so you need the disc to play.

For the original Xbox just check the manufactured date. Anything after 4/10/2004 should be a 1.6. There are some 1.6s from march of 2004 so only those would you need to open up and see

6:15, its normal cause some wii's are just homebrewd with software and cant read burned dvd's from the disc channel, but instead a modchipped wii can read burned games, so your case could be that your earlier wii was a modchipped one and this one is only homebrewd

iirc, certain wii's can read discs because all wii's were originally supposed to have DVD drives, but it got scrapped. wii game discs and DVD's spin at different rates so prolonged DVD usage could wear the drive out. RVL-001 white wii's are the only ones that can read DVD's/burned games, but not *all* of them can. anything past that definitely doesn't!

It is the DVD drive itself that determines a Wii can read DVD-R discs. Anything older than D3-2 should read DVDs.

The xenon dated 2008 is maybe a elpis gpu. xenon boards that got sent in for repair for gpu issues had a new gpu put on. there is a google page about it, I picked one up a while back dated 2009 and was also just as confused a you were. the elpis gpus are actually pretty decent.

The burnt disk likley didn't work because the wii wasn't modchiped. A wii needs to be modchipped to play burned games. Since it's more convenient and easier to set up, the vast majority of people would just load games off of a USB drive instead as that can be done with just a software mod.

It’s the newer dvd drive on the Wii after Nintendo added a new dvd drive in 2008 Wiis and above you couldn’t play dvds or use burn disks on modded Wii. Hope that helps you out
