Yeah, I had that same issue with both that PS2 and the last Xbox One, although,it also wouldn't play Gran Turismo 4, in both cases I upgraded from a PlayStation2 to a PS2 Slim and an Xbox One S to an Xbox One X! They both work jus fine, I even got an HDMi adaptor for my PS2 Slim and am still waiting on my HDMi adaptor for my Xbox as well as my Game Capture Card (coming Tuesday)!

Depends on the power supply cord it uses. The early model 360s (not the “s” or “e” variants) had 3 different motherboards: jasper, Xenon and some other. Each motherboard requires a different voltage thus a different power supply. Microsoft put different connectors on the consoles so you couldn’t accidentally plug the wrong power supply into a console. Looking at the prongs & port on the console you can tell which power supply it uses, thus determining the kind of board it is
