This car was bought new by my uncles father and has lived in the barn since about 1985 or so, there are many cars on the farm but this one is his priced possession, our mission is to put it back on the road so he can enjoy it a little longer before moving on. Thank for watching!

Nice find! My first car in High School in 76 was a 57 210. Same color originally. Bought it for 350.00 . A lot of money back in the day. Your's is in better shape rust wise than mine was in 76! I'd keep it all original except for safety upgrades. Great patina!! Get some shine juice for that thing from Vice Grip Garage. That would make it pop!

Don't forget to fix the old radiator, change the water pump, change the hoses and clamps, flush the cooling system, add new coolant. Those old L 6 engines run hotter than the V 8's. If the fuel sender is clogged, you'll need a new clean fuel tank and fuel lines.

I might just be similar to your 57 chevy.... I am seventy three so know a bit on them. Mechanic all my life so when chevy came out with the corvette in late 53, they had the dual exhaust on their blue flame 235 engine. Factory dual and it was a unique sound... not the weird sound like aftermarket manifolds made. I think it should of been a option for their later model rigs as many had six cylinder engines. Hagerty did a turbo on the blue flame engine so if ya check it out, you would be so surprised at the horsepower it developed... made any V8 seriously feel outnumbered ... five hundred plus on very little boost.... say seven to ten pounds to make all the horses a man could wish for. Also the three speed from the little corvette had a fully synchro three speed transmission, called a progressive transmission. Unbelievable speeds in each of the first two gears plus some models had a touch of overdrive as it wasn't a one to one ratio. That tailstock had provisions for their floor shift.. what made it special was it WORKED WELL. like butter shifts and no locking up in two gears at once from a cheap fenton or even hurst had a best of the bunch floorshift .... that said, not as good as factory. I got a four door belair from a man who bought it new, got crippled in his line of construction work, so cause of his kids being idiots, sold it to me. Robins egg blue with the white trim and the interior was the grey, still like new when I recieved it. I did a corvette tripower six cylinder and factory dual exhaust from a 54 corvette on it. At first he thought I had put the V8 in it but I popped the hood and showed him that nothing had been butchered. He was floored at how nice it sounded so wished he had done it as well. Of course gas being way less than a dollar, you could get some decent mileage from it (no ethanol junk) and boy howdy did it run sweet. Your rig is nice just as it is without doing any patch panels on the outside. Glad it did not have a vinyl top on it! A good pressure clean under and then re undercoat it. Not a heavy blast of that nasty junk, just enough to keep those front fenders from collecting mud and rusting through as most did with their poor design on inner fenderwells. Your rig is very high dollar just as it sets. Oh, you might mount a fender style mounted oil filter system on it.... most of those engines had the one on the exhaust manifold and it was not a good system being right next to the heat.

@@rosinsautofab1956 , my 59 Chevy panel truck has the 235, and it doesn't have a filter, either. My truck has well over a million miles on it and is on its fourth engine. It had the original engine when I got it back in 1985 and had at least two and maybe three hundred thousand miles on it then. The second 235 (with no oil filter) made almost five hundred thousand miles. The third engine was a worn out 1955 with who knows how many miles on it, and I still got another hundred and fifty thousand out of it before I rebuilt the present 235 engine and put it in ten years ago. This truck is still my daily driver and work truck. Those old 235's are tough and long lasting, if you take care of them. They also get great fuel economy, if they're tuned up properly. I've gotten better than 20 mpg on the highway with a 7,000 lb one ton truck. I enjoyed seeing that 57 getting fixed up.

I owned a 57 Chevy 210 with the 235. It had an oil filter(canister type with replaceable element). It was factory standard equipment. It was only partial flow, so it was'nt much good. Since a turkey baster, or a dixie-cup is necessary to empty the cannisters(messy). It was probably done away with by the owner, or by a mechanic.
