A 4.2 is perfect for the Bugatti. And with triple su’s they really fly! Factory 300hp in the early sixties! They’re beasts of engines, and super reliable. My dad was working on them back in the 70’s and 80’s and he reckons they were absolutely excellent.

Owned several E-Types with 3.8 and 4.2L Triple SU's and Webers. But remember the English did not become manufacturers of electronic products, or appliances or anything else because they couldn't figure out how to get those products to leak oil or not work on Lucas Electrics. They're beautiful when they run but they rarely run.

I can see ............ The guy did a first class job on the motor " I had a Sports Car ONLY restoration Shop for 20 years. He did a first class job. On the rebuild ,plus all the aux parts ,manifolds ,carbs, brackets and such. 265 horse power stock. A Jeep motor inline 6 has 145-200 stock..depending what it is. XJ6 rear ends maybe a cheap source for a complete rear end. As it's always been a disposable car in America cause of its European complications in other systems. Should be a good inexpensive source for a good complete rear end unit. That's shocks springs stub axles inboard brakes, diff , sub frame, up right hub carriers, wheel hubs, upper and lower control arms, the whole rear end assembly Just need front suspension after that ( that you already have)
@mikeschneider21614 жыл бұрын
Dude save your money and grab either a new or rebuilt catalog straight six you can put any cam crank etc.
@robertfinck12754 жыл бұрын
A straight 6 would have more HP for sure ,better torque, that Bugatti is gonna be crazy heavy. Will need at least 400HP to keep her rolling and some kickass brakes to slow her down.

good luck with it just most people pull them out of jags to put ls engines in them because there a mechanical night mare and if it has the twin distributor u really don't want that they may run great at first but break down real easy have all sorts of problems but u will be able to fix it so u should not have too much problems as long as u know jags . i will try to find my jag book and send it too u it has everything u need to know for any v12 jag .

Fern grey with moos green leather, the camouflage time of Jaguar - very special - very rare I was looking for this combination with manual box for years from Denmark to Sicily . I found 5 fern grey cars in the web within this time - but no Moss green seat and no manual gear box # in Switzerland - automatic - to much rust # in Italy - automatic - buyer did not want to sale it really # in Dutch - automatic - 3.4 engine only # in UK - left hand - Like new # in Germany - XJ12 Vanden Plas - a dream just was just sold - Finaly I gave up and bought a black car with beige seat and manual Happy Driving - greetings from Germany

That Jeep 4.0 straight-6 is one of the best engines ever made. Not only would it be easier to work on it would be a hell of a lot cheaper to work on. If 3 only reason she wants the engine out of a Jag is to say that she has an engine out of the Jag I don't believe that's a good enough reason to spend that kind of money. That's when you got to be a man and stand up and state the facts.
@dannycasler49594 жыл бұрын
I have to ask what jeep engine are you thinking of installing in it? Jeep made an overhead cam six engine engine back in the early 0's, I don't know a lot about them other than my brother in law had two 1964 Jeep Wagoneers with that engine and he blew both of them up! Then he proceeded to blow up a succession of 283's and 327's that he put in them! Of course you could lock him in a padded rubber room with a bowling ball and no tools and he could break the bowling ball into little pieces!
@jeffyates48134 жыл бұрын
A Mustang rad would be perfect since Ford owned Jag for several decades....then you can take a Miata rear end for an IRS for the narrow rear end to keep it in the Ford family.
