Bought a 72 super new, and proceded to upgrade suspension, Bug -spray carb...EMPI products, exhaust, etc.,,,,and it was fun to hunt other Euro cars in the twisties. The quality control had dropped by then, plastic fell apart, seats deteriorated, by two years old. That Metallic Blue paint did not last, but sold it by 1981...glad to get rid of it..Even got a thousand dollars for it.....but fun early 20's memories. Thanks fro the retrospect.😇

Loved the video - it brought back memories. I had a '71 Super Beetle in clementine that I paid $2,000 for new. Wish I still had it.

Nice! I also had a 71 Super Beetle in Clementine. Bought it new days after I graduated high school. $1,650. Sunrise Volkswagen, Bay Shore, Long Island NY. Sold it to a friends father a year later, and bought a 1972 Super Beetle in Royal Blue/ white alabaster interior, with a sunroof. $1,800. Fun, fun, fun! Should have kept them both! I'm going to consider the new 2025 cabriolet coming out soon.

That's a 1972 - not a 1971. '71 had an old style steering wheel with the horn hoop and the wiper switch was a knob on the dash to the left of the heater fan, not a lever on the column.

The late run 71s also got that stupid old steering wheel and the other stuff. Ask me how I know LOL

You are right. 71 had a different steering wheel and less vents on the back. I had a 71 Super Beetle.

It's a 1972 most likely, but the front seats are from a 1970 model

Anyone know what it sold for? 🤔Must have been a Premium Price for such Great Condition - Average worn but running Beetles start around 8k to the🌛 for a Decent one here in Oz Maybe you'd have to import from Brazil or Mexico to get something that "New"

Yeah the rear deck lid has more louvres than the 71. This looks like a 72.

To answer the super beetle question the super beetle spare tire lays flat instead Of vertical and it has more storage in the trunk and has better suspension. As for the floating question yes it does float but Only for a bout an hour
