This was great. Brett isn't the next Musk, he's the next Izzy Sharp, founder of the Four Seasons -> the unrelenting drive to a vision and dismissing anyone suggesting to "just be sensible". I didn't hear any comments on Boston Dynamics though. Even if they're not solving the same problems, they're a big potential substitute or at least comparison. It would be interesting to hear how they position against them.

Ohhhhhhh Izzy, was far outta left field and it WORKKKKSSSS!! Goated comparison..💪🏼💪🏼

Weirdly, Boston Dynamics isn't focusing on building a mass market humanoid robot. They seem to think it's too hard to pull off. They developed Spot as their only commercial product, and that's still focused on niche industrial use cases for the moment.
@RichEdwards11 ай бұрын
@@jonathanmelhuish4530 yeah, and apparently a heavy defense focus (hence Alphabet’s divestiture). But the TAM he suggested here would at least be near what they’re doing so it seemed odd to not be mentioned.
@funkymonkey720210 ай бұрын
@@jonathanmelhuish4530might be wrong but i think its cause boston is funded by US gov and as such they want it more for military and also dont want to take as much risk/ are just slow (like nasa). But i need to double check
@jonathanmelhuish453010 ай бұрын
@@funkymonkey7202 Most of the original funding for Boston Dynamics came from the military and although they pledged not to weaponize their robots, I agree that the military seems to still be their focus, with maybe some industrial niches. Agility Robots is mass-manufacturing bipedal robots though.

I like that you catch people early! I think your audience can benefit from learning the early failures. The content that resonates is relatable and relevant (ie. sleepless night as a entrepreneur, hardship to fund raise before having a big brand)

I’ve been wanting to see this interview since Sam talked about Adcock last August. It is fascinating how this guy thinks. I wonder what Shaun is going to say about this interview? I believe most people, after banking $100M, wouldn’t go all in on a new company. When he said that he almost declared personally bankrupt that just sounds crazy, I mean, at that level you bank at least 10%. He is a maniac, but he’s a genius too.

Why did your editor do random cuts throughout this video? I would suggest telling them to stop it. Great content outside of that.

Some of this is just factually inaccurate. Which is weird given the founder is on the call. Street of Walls rebranded as Vettery. The content was just a small piece of it. Street of Walls also had a test that it required its prospective candidates to take. Makes me wonder if there are other inaccuracies.

Sam, please don’t let BS slide that easily. First off calling Archer a way to solve traffic is so removed from the reality it hurts my brain. On their website they brag about going from Newark Airport to the heart of NYC in 10 minutes - it's 12 miles by car. Guess what - we already have the technology to do that. It's called a train. Oslo Airport is 30 miles from the city center and thanks to a high-speed train it takes around 20 minutes to get there, with several stops in between! Now let's compare Archer's invention and this train: - The aircraft is expected to carry 2 passengers, the train has 168 seats but can carry more people if needed - The aircraft’s power will be 325kw, and the train outputs 2650kw (compare it to the number of passengers please) - The aircraft’s max speed will be 150mph, The train’s - 130mph - The aircraft needs redundant batteries and engines because if they fail you die, The train doesn't need sh... - The aircraft will be released next year (maybe), The train was built 25 years ago and still goes strong It seems like the train wins in every category. Why is that? Because physics, tech bros don't like physics. If they liked it, it would become apparent that flight is not an efficient nor sustainable way to move stuff. It’s a cool way, needed in some conditions, but it will not solve traffic, because the fundaments are not there. Also stating that nobody worked on traffic for the last 100 years is such a dumb statement, that only VCs could believe it. So either he says that to manipulate the public or he actually believes that, not sure which is worse.
