I would love to see some more examples of what these are capable of! like cutting some titanium for a project or something :) I love that these guys are not hesitating with making their project open source as thats the way to grow a community and share new and exciting ideas that everyone can benefit from having access to! Fantastic stuff guys keep up the great work! Nathan I guess you did okay too.... ;) Love your videos legend. Keep big pronters honest!

This would be the greatest addition to my 3d printer in terms of home made rc toys. The ability to do aluminum work with an old ender vs a Dremel and files would be amazing

I missed it this year but last year cooper and his team brought around cookies at the vender hangout/packout. Stand up guy. I get a sneaking suspicion that Nathan knows exactly what’s going on with the process but embodying a dumb yokel to make the video work.

Will like to see independent review. And know what is the accuracy. But it looks very interesting. 👍

I always like to get a feel for a machine by feeling what it feels. Kind of a strange thing but I have a sort of mechanical empathy. But by holding the end effector, and seeing the force, and what causes it to work or not work, you can learn a lot. For example, I was surprised how forgiving the process was to applying different amounts of force, at different speeds. The way the electrode creates an air cushion that prevents direct contact with very good reliably is the most fascinating part.

that cut edm makes - if it's 1mm or 32mm thick - the kerf is basically the width of the wire, and perfectly vertical. no exit wound style blow out. in that respect tolerances can be smaller than parts cut w/ a laser. and cutting dif thickness (hotend) in the same pass without needing to focus anything - that's slick. I'd def like to see the gantry and bed - and how they water proof stuff
@joshuahuman16 ай бұрын
The accuracy of an edm machine is almost completely based on the accuracy and repeatability of the frame you put it on.

They were in an interesting spot, in between the two halls so lots of traffic. Plus that intro was not scripted I just jumped on there so they didn’t really have time to prepare anything for me. But if they say it works, I believe it. The tool force is near 0 so the printer’s job is trivial

Thanks for sharing your interview with Coop-er. I didn't see the Electric Dance Music water bath wire cut anything when I tried, it just marked the aluminum surface and the music wasn't that great. I must not be skilled with music, so the aluminum didn't fall for me.

Cooper: ''We are also able to make this better faster than other people cloning us'' China: Hold my beer I really hope they succeed and i think they will. Releasing both hardware and software as open source is a big contribution to the maker community since this is the first desktop wire EDM i think.
