(Nick here). Saw this in my recommended videos. I felt compelled to clarify the video as such that I didn't work at any of the studios mentioned (ILM/Blur/Ubisoft/Valve, for Half-Life), so I'm not sure where that information is from. I'm just a guy who was mad at slow tools and wanted to build something more user friendly. Barring that, EmberGen has its place in games and there are numerous film studios that use it as well. Though quality is occasionally an issue, especially with close up hero shots, we're getting better and better with every release and would encourage anyone to give EmberGen 1.1 a try. We're working hard to push the boundaries of real-time and ultimately fit into pipelines alongside the major tools like Houdini, whom I have a lot of respect for. We're expanding into other areas such as terrain generation and real-time liquids and hope to continue improving artists lives.

Nick, this confirms my suspicions I have had about this channel and the validity of some of the comments and research put in. I work in film and have used Embergen on a number of shots, with great results, I know I would not have been able to get the same result in Houdini given the same timeframe.

if you could explore the world of whole planets quadtree spheres (or other methods of making planets). there is NOBODY doing it ! Unity can but nobody is talking or will share code! Or you go into their markplace and look for a plugin they charge outragous money for and then dont offer support for. You want to get into the big leagues? Give game makers a user friendly way of doing whole planets with smooth (marching cube or other methods) voxels in addition to what you already offer! Explore planetary atmospheres and craters that you can dig in or destroy (voxels) THATS the holy grail bud! Think space engineers 2 or no mans sky. You like VFX right? Think space engineers + a cool looking black hole with accretion disk and gravatational lensing! just trying to help

My version on that Theophrastus quote is "The health is the most valuable asset a human has, if you waist it, you shorter TIME that you have on this planet". Great video btw. 👍
@presto_the_editor10 ай бұрын
I disagree, sorta. Our bodies are capable of self regeneration. If we had enough TIME, we could theoretically heal from any illness. Time is our most valuable asset because everything else hangs on it. So you're healthy? How long do you have that health for? Those kind of questions. Time is ultimately the most important

I work with Cinema 4D for 20 years now. Most of the time when I needed smoke/fire/explosions, I usd TFD. When embergen first came out, it looked quite promising. But then Maxon added Pyro to Cinema, which made embergen for C4D users quite obsolete. So, no matter if I use Houdini, Cinema or Maya, I already have my fluid sim on board. So I guess embergen is still interesting for Blender users or game devs. As an Octane user, I can use embergen for free, but I rarely do. Pyro has all I need

Janga allows you to create fluid simulations very fast, and iterate very fast. But that's all it does. Houdini is a complete package for modeling, simulation, animation, character fx, lighting etc etc....you are here comparing apples to oranges, so much click bait on your tittles dude

I know u r houdini user who spend alot of time to learn houdini. That's why your mind is in decline mode ! He is comparing simulations Vs simulations. And he started his video with the firat quote that i also wanna remind you- "The most VALUABLE asset is TIME" and houdini suck at this quote !

Not saying anything about it comparing to Houdini, but it's a real-time engine. If you want high end renders you have to export alembic and render elsewhere like with embergen.
