I see you! This Ken player had some completely unique and totally different answers to my Chun-Li in Street Fighter Third Strike. It completely caught me off guard in a good way! I always love seeing different playstyles in fighting games.

In case you are wondering how to do it, you have to buffer the qcfx2 *before* the super flash, and then piano k,k,k just after the flash and the super will come out in time.

This Ken was so strong, footsies were basically equally to jwong which is crazy, and the ambiguity on his jumpins was just stellar. Really a joy to watch this set.

This should be a case study to show why being different can offer you a huge advantage. This guys fundamentals were amazing, and he used tools Ken has that are rarely seen. Also, that counter super was godlike, especially after knowing you have to buffer the QCF's before the freeze, he had to make a hard read and it was perfect.

This Ken player reminds me of the SF2 & Alpha players who hate the parry system so they play SF3 in this manner. Even though they eventually learn to parry they still hate using it. Also they normally only use Ryu, Ken, Akuma & Sean. It really looks like his playing alpha series in SF3.

In another universe somewhere there's "Daigo's counter-super" and that's EVO Moment 37 for them. Man there's something special about classic Street Fighter. The fact you can still see something new in a 20 year old fighting game is extraordinary.
@ClassicBentobox
@ClassicBentobox 2 жыл бұрын
The problem is that newer fighting games are balanced to the point where it becomes harder for big moments to come about naturally. They’re so focused on making the experience seamless they miss the fact it can take away from the experience.
@mickeybat5816
@mickeybat5816 2 жыл бұрын
@@ClassicBentobox I mean. You are half right and half wrong. The older fighting games seem hard, mainly because there was little information sharing back then. KZbin wasn't around and the internet moved slow and was expensive asf, basically like a diamond encrusted snail. Plenty of what was tossed around was simply from word of mouth, or you had to spend many nickels on learning because there was no training mode. Imagine if a simple game like fighterz came out in the early 90s, I'm willing to bet that the crazy amount of stuff we see nowadays wouldn't have ever been seen until like 6 years into the games life. I think Justin Wong and Smug have said while reacting to combo vids that a lot of the cool stuff you see the pros doing nowadays was from combo videos and stuff. You are right in the fact that with things like training modes and combo trials, it is easier to find cool and crazy stuff. But ion think the balancing of the newer titles is stopping from innovative tech.
@sigurdtheblue
@sigurdtheblue 2 жыл бұрын
@@mickeybat5816 You are also not quite getting the point. A lot of the amazing stuff is not based on combos, but comebacks and conditioning. Even a lack of combos and meta can make for an amazing player, like Kusoru in Guilty Gear XX, and I think they played Rocket Raccoon in Marvel vs Capcom 3 as well. Another thing that amazing players do is defeat something that is really dominant in the meta. In the case of the Daigo Parry, it was a move that is probably the hardest to parry in a game where parries are so valuable, making it one aspect of why Chun Li is/was the best character in the game. And in Super Smash Bros. Melee, having a low tier win against great top tier players is always legendary just because of how much weaker half the cast is seen to be.

There’s something very interesting about this guy using Ken. According to him, (ThankfulGamer) they have only been playing Third Strike for around 3 years… I was looking in the Fightcade chat one day, and him and another B ranked player were chatting in the main chat room. The B ranked player was complementing ThankfulGamer on how good he was. This B ranked player says that maybe one day he will be as good as him some day. They chat for a little bit, and ThankfulGamer mentions that he had came from DOTA before grinding 3S. Idk about much else or if what they’re saying is true, but if they’re telling the truth, we might have just witnessed the greatest Third Strike Ken in history in this video.
