how much have you spent on it since buying the car?
@davidkeppler562 жыл бұрын
You may not want to get into it, but, I’d love to know a rough idea of the cost of all this work. Is it cheaper to go this route rather than buying something with 400+BHP to start with.
@andykirby2 жыл бұрын
I reckon I'll do a video about this but It all really depends what you want. If your main goal is to have this kind of performance and you have the budget for a TTRS or an M3 then I would say get a car like that. This route is WAY cheaper and arguably more fun than buying one of those cars but realistically it's still gonna set you back 6-8K, maybe more depending on labour costs, and then there's the maintenance and potential issues of running an extremely high performance car. It'll probably be quicker than a "bought" car of similar power because the tune will be much more tailored to the individual car and have a more aggressive power curve amd if you know what you want you can ask your tuner to make the car exactly how you want it. Ultimately nothing beats having a car that's individual and when someone challenges you to a race they have no idea what they are in for! Especially those that have paid 100K+ for a car and you ruin their day! I chose the TT because its a very light AWD car with excellent handling, looks brilliant and has a lovely interior, insane traction and a very good tuning potential meaning for little under 30K you can have something that can hang with the super car crowd.

Hi mate, all of the proper dyno tunes I've had have really helped consumption when driving off boost. My Stage 3 with the hybrid IS38 is actually getting ~38mpg off boost.. obviously it quickly decreases when you give it some beans but for long journeys I've been really surprised.

I believe once you do the mods on your car the factory warranty becomes void. Regarding insurance rates the best thing to do is stay mum about the modifications. I can only imagine my insurance rates increasing substantially if I was forthcoming with all of the performance modifications I’ve had done on my 2012 Avant, and my 2021 TTRS.

what are the engineering differences between this std engine and the TS? why make these mods at the factory, if the std engine can run more power than the RS I am genuinely interested, I would b happy with power between stg 2 and 3 but i would need to be comfortable that the engine and DSG can easily handle it longterm for road usage (no track)
@andykirby Жыл бұрын
The tts has a stronger engine, gearbox is the same and can handle the torque no problems. This is why Ben is easy on the torque and doesn't push things too far, he keeps in mind that it's still an IS20 engine when tuning, he was easy on my torque for this reason. All these modern engines can withstand a lot more power that they do as standard, especially if its in bursts not continuously. With any tuning you should be prepared that things will wear quicker than normal, that's the game. If you want a faster car without mods and have the budget then just buy a TTS or RS. For me I love the tinkering, making things customised to what I want and having a sleeper car that will keep with many really fast cars, including the TTRS😎 many Porshes, Teslas, BMW M3s and 4s etc etc. It's a lot of fun because I'm quite a bit lighter than most powerful saloons and the grip on these TTs is mad!
