This 500BHP Stage 2 A45S AMG is MAD!

Bought my A45S+ new from Sytner Swindon in March 21. Brutally fast and an absolute missile. A trip to another Mercedes Dealer in July 22 with only 6,000 miles took me down a different path. Mercedes offered me £2,200 more than I paid new !!!! Couldn't miss that one. 18 months of free driving (albeit petrol and insurance) and £2,200 bonus on top. Lots of A35's around but A45S remains rare and holds value (as long as you don't put miles on the car)

Trust me this car is special. It feels totally different to anything else I’ve had in the past and I haven’t tuned it yet. The previous cars I’ve owned are Golf R, S3, M140i, G20 M340i XDrive, RS5. Coming from an RS5 I was expecting the A45s to feel like a massive downgrade but it doesn’t. It just feels different in a good way, and is more fun. It doesn’t feel like a 4 cylinder. It feels much faster than it actually is.

@@petersothern2909 I believe it’s a mixed bag of reasons really. The lack of the WRC here never gave the spotlight to the greatness of small great handling cars. Even good sport wagons are far and few in between. The over abundance of interstate highways that everybody likes to drive strait on seems to drive auto makers here to keep making cars bigger and bigger. Generally people would rather have their big SUV’s that have no soul to haul their loads and kids around in.

Hello there Luke, what can I say what a stunning car I love every thing about the 45s and probably like most people would of loved such a car. For myself I have to make do with a 2020 plate A35 which is really nice but realistically that is as close as I will ever get to my dream car. Lovely video Luke and keep up your excellent video’s. @@celestialbeingonepiece3861 I personally prefer the 45s having driven both. RS3 is an amazing car too though you really can’t go wrong with either. Very similar power and performance but I found the 45 handles a bit better.

Loved my m140i but limitations on grip in less than perfect conditions made it tough to live with, hence pretty much all the four wheel drive cars out there now and just more practical for day to day all year round driving

Tell the owner to contact VRS in Northampton as they had mapped the 7speed dct from the earlier A45 AMG. It could be the same gearbox but with a newer software revision. It's worth a punt!

Vrs use est software for their a45s developments. The gearbox is definitely. Not the same as the old 7speed it's an 8speed

As you say, Mercedes quotes the A45s’ horsepower to be 420 at the crank, so is this 500 horsepower also at the crank or at the wheels? Just wondering if apples aren’t being compared with oranges.

Sad car we never got in the states. They're too much for what they are but dope none the less. That's why this and the a35 never got the lime light they only released sedans in North America and they want too much money for what it is

Had a stage 2 A45S for a year tuned by MSL, now have a DAZA stage 2 RS3 and the RS3 is way quicker

Issue with these, they're great cars, but for the money that could land you comfortably into a c63 which is a 'proper' amg. I'm sure the 4cylinder is great but with petrol cars being phased out, do you want another 2ltr? (same as golf r, cupra, s3,focus rs) . For me an m car or a c63 would be better value for money. That being said, the interior is awesome but for £45k its still just an a class
