RTK is used in agriculture to position the tractors in the field. 2cm is usually taken as a reference of overlap.

Very interesting, I had been looking at an RTK module for a rover project but, as you also found, all the boards were prohibitively expensive. Looks like this will fit my use-case perfectly! Thank you!

Very helpful video. Thank you. You and I have similar interests and skillsets - but I've been at this for 25 years! You have talent

Great video, if I ever need GPS positioning system (other than in my car) I’ll have to get one. It’s amazing how accurate that device is.

What is the sampling frequency ?
@iwh75 сағат бұрын
1Hz, but this company has the module LG290P which costs 210€, only the module itself. That does 20Hz even with RTK and support additionaly the use of the L2 Signals

A zipline works great for repeat testing and also a string for measuring its distance of movement.

During the winter you could work on a robotic snowplough. Great stuff by the way.

I still haven't finished my project, but I found 2 NEO-6M boards for 20€ (that's two normal GPS on a reakout board that can be RTK rovers). And I found a NEO-6P-0-000 GPS module for 34.57 USD on ebay, it's a special module that can be an RTK base station. I intend to connect them with wifi.

For RTK that is a great price, thanks for the info and def something I'll be trying soon. Sad to hear the basestation piece isn't working on the pi tho.

You will find that placing the antenna above all the electronics will improve the acquisition/accuracy.

awesome. I have literally been waiting for RTK hardware to become affordable enough to evaluate! we could build a base station with one too?

To take a precise position you need to average readings for at least one minute or so. To be honest, ASG-EUPOS corrections gave me about decimeter accuracy on single fix (at least at L1 band). I suppose that they still not send corrections at L5, so probably your results would be same. So, to take a precise position on rover you need a Kalman filter that calculates long term fix from GNSS and short term fix from odometer or IMU. Good luck!

About these ardusimple boards... there is version simpleRTK2B Fusion with F9R module, for about $270 and F9R that has IMU and encoder input (one physical or 2 thru serial line). It should be able to be navigate even without signal for some limited time and accuracy. It even has "robotic lawnmover" mode in firmware. I tested it for short time but wasn't successful. But I heard it's good module.

I don't know if setting up your own base station would make much difference to your results if you are within ~15km of one of the network bases. Plus the network base stations will be high accuracy survey grade antennas. As the modules are not survey grade, 20mm accuracy is pretty damn good for the price. Would be interesting to see this compared to a Lecia or Trimble GPS!

Hi Nikodem, I think the problem is that sometimes the lat en long values are switched. Just turning them around should give you the precise location.

Where are you getting the RTK updates from without a base station? Are you using a NTRIP server?
@CBWP2 сағат бұрын
maybe you can run wine or some other vm to emulate the windows environment on the pi? or compare a device they do make it for and reverse engineer pins etc. hopefully the language will be familiar...

Well this kind of changes my comment on your GPU robot video. Or you could have both GPU and GPS on for boundary and one for obstacles trees rocks and 💩 😂
