Thanks. Sometimes the affordable knives will do everything you need them to do. I have a Green River Hunter that was only $15.00, but is a fantastic knife in 1095 steel. It didn’t come with a sheath, but I do really nice leather work and made my own. It’s kind of the American Puukko. The same knife has been made since 1864.

That's a lovely location in summer. interesting I was just looking at the Eräpuu Metsästäjä 85 on sale for 26 euro, and i thought of you and the Tiikka :) . It is crazy good value knives.

Thank you for taking us along on the road trip. Enjoyed seeing the ice fishers, that we could occasionally see out the window of your exceptionally quiet vehicle. Was the road you were driving built on what I remember from my geography & geology classes called an esker? Under ice rivers formed during the ice ages when huge glaciers covered many parts of the world.

Harju is the Finnish word for Esker, at least that is what the internet told me.

Ahti make amazing knives..bought a Juhla RST…wood saber…had to put a slight convex on the edge…but more bc of me than the knife..

@@OldForestBushcraft bought a Dulo knives leuku in vanadis 4E…had one of his puukkos in K390 but it fell out of my pocket on my motorcycle…got ran over a couple times…don’t want to go over all of my knives right now…but…the newest addition is an Adventure Sworn Classic in 3V…it is their take on a woodlore…omgoodness brother…by far the most beautiful knives I own…

I just got back from the U.P. Michigan. Your landscape in Finland is very similar to the U.P. Now I understand why a lot of Finns emigrated to the U.P. Also on the way back I purchased the Ahti Metsa 95 in SS from DLT Trading. Love the knife , very simple but very nice!

Absolutely love the scandi grinds that Ahti does. One of my favorites of any value puukkos. Dont have many knives that are more enjoyable with wood processing than my Tikka. And after initial testing, this Metsä 95 feels as good. Great value knives imo. Thanx for watching, have a great day!🌲🔪🌲

Interesting drive, thanks for the ride along. Was there logging going on in the past in that region? Looks like 2nd growth forest but not sure.🤔Most of the forests I've visited in Canada have been logged at least once - old growth forest is pretty rare here. I've made 4 knives with the knob pommel handle so far. Needed to do a bunch to get the handle shape (mostly) correct - copying from pictures = slow learning curve! 🤣 Like you said, gaps between the blade and the bolster cup take up the most time to correct and can indicate how carefully the knife was assembled. I've noticed at steep increase in knife prices over the last few years. Its great that makers like Ahti and Erapuu and the others you mentioned still offer classically styled Puukkos at reasonable prices. Thanks for posting,

I think its mainly second growth in the video. The trees gets older in the end of the video. There starts a protected area, with quite old pines. After a while along that road comes protective woodland with one of the oldest Pine trees of Finland. And the single highest pine. But like in Canada most of the forests have been logged at least once. Im so envious that you have done your own puukkos. I hope get time this year, that I could start also. Im planning to start to learn the forging with our village bladesmith. I love indeed that there are still puukko makers that are making affordable, yet functional and nice looking knives! It's interesting to see the parallels of logging in both countries. Many Finns settled here in the area of Thunder Bay, Ontario to work in lumber camps. It truly is something to compare the difference between the tallest and oldest pines and 2nd growth forest - the old trees are awe inspiring. Best wishes for forging your own blades - it's worthwhile because making it yourself ads to the bond with the knife. And it's still an inexpensive hobby. It's great that Finland has the Puukko culture and lots of great masters to spread the knowledge of traditional knifemaking. Let us know how it goes when you start forging! Just always loove visiting this area! And specially when the ice has melted! Glad you werent too bored with the drive, lol😂 That was a nice opportunity to check many Ahti knives, as they had a pretty good selection of them. This one had a very nice handle. Ahti Puukkos really are one of the best value puukkos of Finland. Really hard to choose between Eräpuu and Ahti. They both make exelent value knives. Those look like fantastic lakes. I like lakes, I came to the right country 😂. Excellent video mate.

Ahti metsä sopii jos kämmenen leveys on reilusti alle 10cm eli aika pienelle kädelle. suomalaisten puukkojen kahvat on hyvin usein todella pieniä, luulis että olis parempi jo myynnin kannaltakin tehdä vähän reilumpia kahvoja.

Itse suosin reilumpia kahvoja, ja tämä istuu omaan käteen hyvin, toisaalta jos olisi yhtään pienempi niin olisi ongelma. Samaa mieltä, että kahvat voisi olla noin yleisesti reilumpia.

strange that Ahti Metsa can't make sparks from ferro rod while Ahti Tikka and Ahti Korpi that has similar blades makes sparks easily...
