Great new features. I have not used Audiate in the last few years of using Camtasia as I did my own narrations. But with these improvements I decided to go for it to see how it may help improve workflows, and add some different voices. Ok to start with it took a little time to get used to how best to place comma's etc so descriptions sound more natural, then a bit of time to find the right voice and adjust speed and pitch (English UK - Mia Speed 0.95 / Pitch 0.97). But after the initial effort, quite impressed. As others have said I can't wait to see how much more it improves, and potential for own voice generation.

I do my own voice work but would like to see how this works in other languages. The one thing I am nervous about is not knowing how good the translation is. In the past I had some auto generated translations and my native speakers of the target language said it was obviously not done by a native speaker because some words were incorrectly used. Like one time the script referenced a chicken (recipe) and the translation came out robot chicken. Not speaking the target language I would never have known that myself. Where does the translation come from? Is it checked for accuracy before or during training the AI?

Amazing. The voices are a bit robotic, but they’ll improve in time. But right now, this tech is good enough to create informative videos for non-English speakers in my community.

Absolutely! I found the same thing at first, (Andy here) but was surprised when I played with some of those settings (like Speed), how much it really did affect whether or not certain voices sounded more natural. Like you said, it'll improve in time, and the cool thing with Audiate is you'll get those updates in real-time as they happen!

This is a nice addition but I'd love to see more done on ths audio correction. I use Adobe Podcast to make my echoy office sound like a recording studio. Is that a feature we can expect anytime soon? I've also noticed that the words dont always line up with the wave forms which makes the ums, pauses, and random words hard to remove without looking at the wave form of each one. Otherwise the words get cut off and dont sound right.
@techsmith
@techsmith Жыл бұрын
We've recently released a fix for the second problem regarding words & waveform not lining up. It took longer than normal as we went for a long-term fix rather than a simple patch, so that shouldn't happen anymore! (If you haven't opened Audiate since Oct. 30th, it may take a minute to open as it will need to download the big new update). As for the audio effects, have you played with Audiate's current FX in the bottom right corner of the software? Volume Leveler, Remove Reverb, DeEsser & more? app.screencast.com/TomO9UFRsmqV9

Great that all this is in one place. The voices sound computer-generated and not as natural as I'd want for my work. Is there a way to train it to recreate my own voice by listening to a wav file of one of my own voice recordings? Interesting that it sounds more natural in a non-English voice.
@techsmith
@techsmith Жыл бұрын
Using your own voice is something that we're interested in looking into, but we're not quite there yet. That's actually not too surprising that other languages sound more natural, a lot of other languages have very predictable spelling to pronunciation rules, whereas English is all over the place, which makes it a more difficult language to synthesize.

Thank you. I hope you do work on this front. One of the things I'm also trying to do with Camtasia is an audio graham that uses the text that's automatically detected with the voice. Like a transcript. Hope I'm explaining that in a way that you can understand what I'm trying to do. Is there a way to do this without manually typing in the text and having it "pop up" as a visual graphic CC type of style? @@techsmith
@techsmith
@techsmith Жыл бұрын
@@EldercareSuccess I'm not sure if this is exactly what you're asking, but if you sync the project with Camtasia and choose to send Dynamic Captions you'll get text on the screen as the narration is saying it. See the section of the above video labeled "Dynamic Captions in Camtasia" at 4:43.
@EldercareSuccess
@EldercareSuccess Жыл бұрын
I'll check and try this. Do you need to have the audio transcribed first? Or does it automatically write out the spoken words? And... can you create the text so they appear with a background color other than gray? @@techsmith
@techsmith
@techsmith Жыл бұрын
@@EldercareSuccess Audiate does the transcribing for you automatically when you bring any audio over from Camtasia. You can edit the text color by selecting that Track on the timeline in Camtasia and in the Properties panel changing the color to what you want! can you upload multiple language captions for the viewer to choose from and can you do the same for voices?
@techsmith
@techsmith Жыл бұрын
If you're asking about KZbin videos, yes, you can upload multiple SRT (subtitle) files that you've exported from Audiate for each language, and the viewer can choose from however many you give them. There's not currently (to my knowledge) any way to do that with different voice narrations as that'd technically be a different video from KZbin's perspective. (Andy)

@@techsmith great, thanks. Is it possible to batch up the translated captions or do you need to go through the (admittedly easy looking) process for each language?
@techsmith
@techsmith Жыл бұрын
@@miless2111sutube Currently batch translating isn't an option, so like you said, it's an admittedly easy process, but it would currently be a little manual to change the translation and re-export. We'd recommend copying/pasting the original script (in whatever language you start from) each time and always translating from that starting point as the nuances of language can change with each translation and you want to keep that standard starting point in place.

What is the maximum length for a transcript? Can this be used to create audiobooks?
@techsmith
@techsmith Жыл бұрын
There is no maximum length for a transcript, though after a certain point there could be some performance issues depending on a users computer. We currently only test with files up to 2h long, but there are no technical limitations on duration. One thing to note though, there is a limit for recording duration. While you can import files of any length, you can only record for 30m at once. You could record as many times as you'd like in a single project, but only 30m at a time. If you'd like to create audiobooks, we would recommend reading less than 30m at a time, and then once you get to a point where it's starting to feel slow on your machine, create a new project. The 30m per-recording limit is something we have on our roadmap to eventually address.
