I actually wanted to make an infinite flight build to fight the IB-01: CEL 240 at high altitude a while ago, but I always found the VE-42B tank legs to be sluggish no matter how hard I tried. So imagine my relief when I found out that the new LAMMERGEIER/42F legs are also capable of such a feat, on top of being able to stay afloat for a much longer period of time.

You can do this with coral generators . After phase one ends just assault boost up as high as you can until it catches up and then let the battle begin

I think infinite airtime is not that hard to achieve actually, even without the new parts, or tetrapod legs in general. You just need one of the coral generators, and a weapon to give you "hangtime" so the generator can start recovering. For example, firing any grenade launcher or charged shot forces you to a standstill, but isn't using any thrust.

So I realize you went for the Ace Combat reference, but this actually gave me way more Sly Cooper vibes. The final boss fight against Clockwerk in the first game plays out very similarly: Sly on a jetpack, flying infinitely, and even Clockwerk falling into the boiling lava below but coming right back up for a phase 2. Hell, 1:15 the damn thing even LOOKS like Clockwerk!

As much as I am astonished at sky limit as most, now that I think about it, it makes sense since this fight is part of a bigger map, which takes place on a *vastly* higher altitude than the lake. I guess it's too much trouble to move upper area limit around too much for these segments, so they went with it being high for the entire mission

This style of gameplay really reminded me of Another Century's Episode series, which coincidentally also developed by FromSoft in PS2 and PS3. It's also a mech game with a roster of mechas from different anime series, like gundam and macross. The gameplay let's you move (with boosting & quickboosting) almost infinitely on the air just like in this video
