Unknown Regions is by far my favorite. I love being the Falcon on that map and getting tie fighters to chase me in the asteroids. Most of the time they crash and die.

I was sad when I couldn't find matches, period. There was a time when it seemed to me like SA was a dead mode and doomed to stay that way. Squadrons getting announced is the best thing that could've happened for SA. The mode is actually populated again!

It's a crime they didn't include a battle of Exegol map in Starfighter Assault. You know since they wanted to help promote TROS by including an update with BB-8, Ajan Kloss, new reinforcements, Age of Resistance Supremacy, Finn/Rey/Kylo Ren skins, and later on a Palpatine skin. I can only imagine how awesome and beautiful the map would have looked like in the game's engine with all of those Star Destroyers. It was a shame Criterion Games left so early. Starfighter Assault is so underrated.

How dare you look down upon the Y wing. That's my favorite ship lol. Also, there's actually not that many ships in star wars battlefront 2. The resistance and First Order both use things from the galactic civil war. Plus they have no bomber's for some reason. Also, the Y wing spans across the clone wars to the rebellion. So in total, there's the Tie fighter, X wing, tie bomber, tie interceptor, A wing, Y wing, ARC 170, and the V wing. All the other fighters are rehashed versions of already existing fighters.

The flying and shooting shit the whole time is a major problem. That's why having starfighters in ground battles livens it up. In the original battlefront, I could fight enemy aircraft or focus on strafing. On the Dune sea map I used to hop in a tie fighter and stay close to X-wing spawns to blast them before they took off and give my team air superiority and then go ham on enemy tanks and infantry. I prefer large battles because unless your team mates are friends "being tactical" will be frustrating on a small scale. 5v5 means it takes one asshole to completely ruin your team's performance.

I like starfighter assault more than strike and Ewok hunt. Galactic assault is okay because I can help my team by doing bombing runs on the objective and even support my team if I’m guarding the objective by bombing the ion disruptor or rocket launcher.

best thing to do on Kamino is tricking enemy hero ships to drown in the ocean. There are a bunch of bridges near the water, and the waves often go over them. So, if you have an enemy ship on your tail, if you fly through the small gap between the ocean and the bridges, right before a wave covers up the entire area, you can easily escape, while the enemy will often not have enough time to get through, and will either stop chasing you, or crash

Also, what will give Squadrons additional longevity is the depth of the flight model, allowing the flight to be easy to pick up but legitimately hard to master because of its depth, and will bring more emphasis to skill rather than time played. The star cards used throughout Battlefront II encourage grinding rather than improving skill. Makes sense considering star cards existed for the sole purpose of monetization.

The thing about the 1st person/3rd person view is they require different gameplay design choices, and they're not really interchangeable. Games that are build around a 3rd person view have to simplify mechanics and weapons behavior or they are un-playable. A first person game let's you use much more complicated mechanics that aren't manageable if you also have to handle a disconnect between the player and the aircraft. Carrier landings with a full fidelity flight model in 3rd person? Yeah, nope. Making a 1km shot with no auto aim and only a loose alignment between your cockpit and the target? Yeah, not without some form of aim assist... Remember, the guns in Squadrons have a 1km range. That beam cannon can reach out and zot a shield generator when it is not that many pixels wide.
