Yes once your metal work gets better you'll be using less body filler or sometimes it's better to just replace the whole metal either find it out of the wrecking yard that is close enough or make a pieces from raw sheet metal. When I first started doing body work right out of high school in 1987 I was using a whole lotta body filler. Intel I learned what other shop's were doing. Replacing metal. These day's they don't even do body work they replace parts or call it a total have the insurance pay out. I bought a few classic with total paper work on them because shop's don't do work on car's that are 20 year's older.

@snoopu2601 Жыл бұрын
@@jsh3234 Do you have any video's of your metal finishing work? Just curious. Because after all the welding and grinding sanding seems like trying to work the metal using no bondo/body filler will take up a whole lot of time when a person has a lot of other thing's to the car/truck safe to drive on the road there's a whole list. Spend all that time on metal work when some one could just side swip all the work that has been done. I can see if someone was going to show it bare metal then yeah I can see spending many many hour's on metal finishing work and using lead filler what most metal finisher use is lead.

Absolutely agree. Its a real joy to watch a thoughtful and skilled metal worker like Carter doing his trade......knows where and why the inevitable problems occur and has the knowledge and experience and perhaps most importantly, the patience to do what's needed to take corrective measures. With this type of meticulous metal work, very little fillers of any kind will be needed, all adding up, in my opinion, to something that will tend to be much more reliable and durable. I'm not a body person though have done prep work back in the day for painters in big shops, but I imagine that with some of the various types high-build epoxy primers and the like that exist today, that would take care of much of the minor imperfections that might need attention on a work like this.
