It also has the Red Box DI in it, which I never use... but yes, it's very reliable for capturing a good basic sound that you can tweak when mixing. I think that many people are missing is if they're watching this on an Android phone or a tablet or laptop with some cheap speakers factory speaker or crummy headphones you don't really get the full effect a h&k. as many say you need to play it for yourself it's like buying any kind of an amp what you hear on KZbin or in a demo if you're not standing near it you really don't get to hear the full greatness of it that's the thing about the tubemeister. I was the same way with a Bogner amp and a Supro not really sure had heard demonstrations via computer until I actually went down to a music store and played one. Both of those are fantastic to just like an H&K but you actually have to sit down plug-in and play with to really get the full effect the tubemeister even if you don't have an Apple product for the extra access what it can do on its own is fantastic

You miss it because a speaker in a box, in a room has yet to be replicated digitally. Currently they just use a fancy EQ curve called a IR, or impulse response. Even if they do eventually figure that out, you are reproducing the sound with a tweeter taking half the frequencies, so it will never sound like a speaker physically when listening to it.

I do "front of house" sound and have a home studio. Started doing sound in 1981 and my home studio in 2004. In addition to your Redbox DI, DI your clean guitar signal whenever you record. DI straight off the guitar before any effects or the amp. With the DI signal, you can re-amp or send it to a multitude of amp simulation plugins in your DAW. I bought the Radial Engineering J48 and X Amp ReAmping Kit. I always take a DI signal straight off the guitar whenever I record. It's easy insurance in case something happens with your original track. I've found that sometimes a guitar that sounded great soloed didn't sound that hot in the mix. Re-amping allows you to fix it without having to re-track the guitar and lose a great performance. With the addition of cabinet impulses, in your plugin chain, you can get virtually any sound you could hope for. You could improve your "Redbox" DI sound by adding the Mooer RADAR to the Redbox DI output. Pete Thorn has a good video demonstrating the RADAR. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qmXSg2Rpnr-VfM0 I used the HK Redbox DI's in combination with a cabinet mic when I toured with Brother Cane in 1993. When we weren't doing arena dates we were in clubs where the stage volume had to be lower. With the Redbox DI's I could fatten up the sound in a way that wasn't possible with just the mic. You would probably never need one since it's built in on your amp but Behringer makes an inexpensive ($40.00) guitar DI (Behringer Ultra G GI100 Active DI Box) that actually sounds pretty good, as long as the 4x12 cabinent emulation is turned on.

Great video! Novice here, what is the reason for switching what pick ups you're using mid-performance? The sound is very similar to me, is there anything from a technical point of view?
@tfigmoney5206 жыл бұрын
Speedy the tone changes quite considerably when you switch pickups. Play with it on your guitar and you will tell the difference. My explanation probably isn't the most technically accurate, but for me the neck pick up always sounds more full. The bass in the neck pickup is more present so the tone isn't thin. It also sounds more 'bubbly' when played fast (I don't know how else to describe this sound, I'm sure others will have a better term). The bridge pickup on the other hand seems to strip out the bass frequencies a bit more and it let's the tone cut through much clearer. Could be considered 'not as full ' but you can do things to combat that with other settings. Play with it on your guitar, you'll notice it. Hope this helps.
@verb36146 жыл бұрын
He’s switching pickups mid-performance because different pickup positions will give you different tones. On guitars the bridge pickup will typically sound brighter and more bitey because it’s closer to bridge whereas the neck pickup sound calmer and more fluid because it’s closer to the neck.

@Eventual4206 жыл бұрын
Its great that you're tracking parts. There is much to learn about the process, and even if you're just tracking thru the H&K you get a feel for what hard panned parts can do. You also learn about post EQ on the channel, you can find LPF & HPF here, and learn about trimming the frequency range down, creating the focused heavy guitars. I think you'll eventually get more amps and speakers. The reason I chose mostly stereo rackmount amps is because of the two for the price of one economics. Two different speakers on the same amp will certainly contrast them. You'll find 6L6 completely different to EL34. In the long run, you'll want to keep them all because it sure is nice to have such drastically different tones. Especially when you're tracking. There is nothing to fear with microphones. You don't need expensive ones. You don't need costly studio gear. Your Apollo Twin is high quality and will deliver the audio adequately. Different speakers, different amps, its like eating a different meal for dinner every night. You need the variety.

Some nice tones on that amp... can see why Lifeson uses one. Song was well done, but watch out for having overlapping guitar parts occupying the same octave ranges - tends to produce muddy results. Better to use bass lines to harmonize over a single guitar riff or chord pattern and when your lead goes low, leave more space between the chords, or use more chord fragments.

Sounds pretty damn good Tyler. Its exciting to see this amp and a few others that now have XLR out.

What are you thoughts on this amp today in 2022? This amp caught my interests a few days ago. The thing I notices is that the company has not updated their line of amps in 3 years! Also What happened to your son "Falling Down" I could not find it on Spotify. I really liked it!!!

I'm looking forward to buy this amp, but also heard a lot people complains about how unreliable this amp is, tube qualities are bad, amp stop working after few months things like that makes me hesitate to actually buying one. Anyone been using this amp for more than a year and still think this is worth buying??
