@@FuzzedDrones I am currently on the Matamp website looking at the GT120MV. Would like it to have some sort of low power option but to be honest, I like a lot of headroom nowadays so I can get distortion purely from the pedalboard. So maybe I can justify it 🤔

I’ve been relentlessly check the channel for this demo. I wanted this amp when the first previews were coming out but most demo channels don’t demo for the HEAVY. The DOOM. The SLUDGE. Been looking to downgrade in wattage at home but didn’t want to loose the magic that comes with the big 100 watters.

I feel ya, although to be fair most people don't run 100W heads on more than about the equivalent of about 30-40W until you start playing big stages, even then it can still be a lot... mind you that's not getting into headroom n all that.

Maybe you mis-spoke. All tube guitar amplifies are rectified; either tube or diode. AND because all guitar tube amps have AB power sections (push-pull) it has four (4) EL84 power tubes not three (3) EL34. However, it does have three (3) 12AX7 pre amp tubes. Anyway, ORANGE amps are awesome and have their own thing going on. Great video!!

I own this amp along with some of the other big orange heads...this is my favorite amp Orange have ever made.....its awesome for metal....great demo and Riffs btw....maybe you could do a similar one for the dual dark

@@Coastal-Sasquatch obviously both have the orange flavour, but for me the OR30 is a much tighter, clearer and heavier amp….it really blew me away….the presence knob changes the amp from other orange heads……we’ve been begging orange for years to include one….go to a store and try one mate…:)

Nice video! Agreed I think the versatility of the OR30 is the best feature with the presence knob / full EQ and brightness switches you can dial in tons of different metal genre tones. I usually use an OD or mid boost.

Sounds really good. I really like the tone to it. Sounds like it is a versatile amp that can to all types of Metal. I was looking really hard at the OR15 a couple of years back, but I didn't think 15 watts would power the two 60 watt speakers I have so I chose the Orange Pro Crush 120. (Bang for the buck since I'm a my house only guitarist). Too bad this amp wasn't around a couple of years back, I would have gotten it. The FX loop is a must for me.

Man this amp sounds good. What tuning were you in during your lighter drive with delay part (around the 5:30 mark)? Kinda reminded me a bit of Russian Circles. I used to have a RV mkiii and just felt like it was too squishy and loose. This amp sounds so much better

So for that section I was in DADGAD . I’ve said it before but this amp took me by surprise . I’ve been a big fan of the rockerverb for a while now . But the minute I started playing this . I knew this was the orange for me .

Well that’s a good question . Now if I’m using this as a high gain amp . I would go with the OR30 all day . I have the GT120MV and I really wouldn’t consider that a high gain amp . It’s very flat sounding amp. It really doesn’t do the whole metal thing very well unless you boosting it with something . GT1 I’ve never been a fan of but people love em . Just something about that amp I really didn’t like that much .

@FuzzedDrones the main difference I have seen are the OR50 is 2 el34s no rectifier tubes and no FX loop. Sound wise I am not sure. Obviously the or30 has also a few more bells and whistles. The rocker 30 to me is a bit less saturation more open sounding. I can get the mastodon type tone all day. It's aggressive and mean. I find it has enough gain for me, especially to play stuff like the sword or red fang. A OD boost type pedal gets it into the higher gain modern sound.

I prefer the previous font too, but the current one is based on the font from the shopfront of the original Orange music shop in Covent Garden, London in the late 60s and 70s and which was also used on early 70s 'pics only' amps. Ade's been slowly trying to bring back the look of the 'pics only' amps for years now. I doubt they'll change it any time soon!

i imagine that you can get there but you’ll need pedals in front to tighten up the distortion (maybe compressor and high gain distortion from say a lichtlaerm) because it’s not ideally setup for that genre but like any amp it can probably do it - which makes me think you can probably get where you want to go with many cheaper more available amps.
