Bought one of these that showed up a couple days ago. Couldn't be more more thrilled with it. Thanks for the recommendation. UPDATE: I'm a month in with this now. Working with Clip Studio Paint and this tablet takes on the 'feel' of real analog tools. There are 'brushes' and 'pens' in CSP that I use with the tablet that are FAR SUPERIOR to any analog brush I've found in DECADES. With the quality of art tools at an all-time low, this tablet is a throwback to a time when I could get GOOD bristol board and GOOD brushes. I don't think there's any way I could be more thrilled with this purchase. Thank you again SO much for the recommendation. You're right, this tablet RULES!

The buttons on the pen sometimes lags and doesn’t work for a couple of minutes unless u use the fast cut keys to change it. I l especially chose it for the thinness - I can't draw on an angle, I need to lay the thing flat on the table, and it works perfectly that way. I had to download the driver twice - the newest version did not work at all, so I got the previous one, and now I can set the functions for all the keys ( the first thing I had to get rid of is the right-click on the pen - I kept getting at it accidentally, and it kept changing my coulours!! disable is the way to go with the pen keys, if you have a "firm grip" on the pencil, like I do. The screen is beautiful, no lag, no issues. Now i'm getting Illustrator ( now there's something overpriced!!) and moving on to vector drawing. Wish me luck!

The problem with Xp-Pen latest Pen tech is the initial activation force. I have 2 old tablets from Xp-pen, the old 15.6 and a Deco 03, and both work VERY well and I adore them. I wanted to upgrade for my studio and got a 22R Pro but the new pen models they use ( I think it's labeled as P2A and P1A or something) was HORRIBLE, it had a very high initial activation force and that means that if you have a light touch it doesn't register the stroke. Making dots for istance, was a pain. Basically the tablet had very good specs, like the excellent color accuracy, the big 22 inches display etc, but it failed at the most important and basic thing, having a good pen and a good feeling while drawing =(. I contacted their tech support and they said there was nothing they could do to fix this, because it was an hardware limitation. I returned the tablet. Just saying, I'm NOT bashing on Xp-Pen, like I said I've been a client of them for years, I just really can't raccomend their latest products which come with the new P2A. Avoide them like the plague. If you want a similar tablet to this one, I actually raccomend the Artist 15.6 Pro, it has basically the same specs but it comes withthe older pen with way better performance, and I think it's even a bit cheaper.

I've been hearing great things about xp-pen displays. Been looking through reviews because I'm thinking about upgrading my old (about 5 years I think) Yiynova MSP19+ display to something a bit more recent. At the time it was one of the cheapest Wacom alternatives available that worked but it's starting to have some major drawbacks, subHD resolution, weight and a an extremely cheap feeling pen (the nip tends to wobble and feel somewhat off). Definitely curious about the larger models XP has because they are much closer to an affordable price point at least for me.

As for why the tablets have removable wires, 9/10 times that I've experienced a failure in a wacom has been in the USB cable itself rather than the port. Toss it, buy a new cable on amazon, the only issue being sometimes the cable wont fit the Wacom's port. Before they made them all detachable cables, if a wire went bad you had to toss the whole tablet and drop way more cash to start again which sounds more like an Apple thing. What would be more reasonable is to make a better attachment. no more of this "plug and pray" crap, hoping that the natural connection is enough to keep the wire in. Give it a hard latch you close after plugging it in or some plastic clip to secure the cable if it's going to be removable. The reason why people keep asking if a graphics tablet is self contained is... well partially because of the ipad, which is understandably over priced because that's what Apple does, but also because: why can you _not_ have a decent stand alone drawing tablet? It seems flipping ridiculous in this day and age that *no one* seems to have done this yet. I've seen people using MS Surface tables but they don't seem to hold up over time for one reason or another so I hesitate to bother. I've yet to see a reasonable technical explanation for why a reliable, decently priced (sub 500), dedicated drawing tablet doesn't exist. The money that a company could make is just laying on the table somewhere in plain view.

I think XP Pen is doing R&D on a creating a Surface Pro like device, and Huion already has a non portable version of that.

It seems like it would not be under $500 bucks. A self contained computer AND a higher quality display coming in under 3 lbs? The tech just isn’t there yet. Not at that price point.
@TheRealAlpha24 жыл бұрын
Mobile processors are improving by leaps and bounds every year. Battery capacity too. If Apple and Microsoft can do it with general use technology just imagine putting it together in a dedicated package. Sub $500 might be an issue if you want something as big as the product being reviewed here, but it doesn't have to be that big, or have as high a resolution as an ipad retina display to be useful. There's a "Goldie Locks Zone" there to be exploited, I'm sure of it.
@redandblack6414 жыл бұрын
@@TrentKaniuga It is, it would just cost around $900 to $1500 to make a portable all in one Windows tablet with this pen technology that could handle most of the art apps. I don't have this one, but I have the 15.6 pro from xp-pen and have since Christmas, and it's really nice. I had an issue with my pen so they gave me another and I haven't had any issues since. They usually have good black Friday sales so I'd totally check out there stuff then.

NO DRIVER ISSUES ANYMORE?! hmmm ok now Im interested. too much hassle with the rivers for me to try something else than wacom. Thanks Trent! Though I'll wait. got cintiq 16 and it good. Hoping for some new gen goodies from wacom liek 8k, better pressure activation, more angle support on stylu and even better the stylus more akin to apple pencil. If someone does that and its 27 inch its gonna be like a traditional drawing experience. Cant wait.

"TRENT"...My Guy... I've been Drawing freehand and illustrating logos' Designing apparel Graphics etc. for quite while...! Basically just winging it around my '2019 Macb00k Pro. However...I Just cop'd the "XP- Pen Innovator '16. I'm Definitely ready to developed my skills on this Tablet...a little intimidating though...due to me pretty much "Self-Teaching myself on a Mac...therefore...all the key-clicks, Drawing angles and even learning Photoshop & Illustrator...are a day to day grind. I will admit..YOU definitely helped me understand the start up basics. 👍✌

Wahahahah you reviews are the best Trent. This screen tablet was on my radar but buying xp pen in the part od Brasil that i live is kinda hard, plus is a second monitor so i decided to go for the TAB S6 because i love sketching on the bathroom and there's nothing compared to being able to do it. But! If im ever buying a bigger tablet to use with the pc it will probably be a Xp pen, the quality is really getting better.

Nice vid, even though I got 5 ads (which is a lot for a 12 minute video). Thanks KZbin. No, I'm still not getting Premium or whatever the hell you call it.
