He wires a digital dash in his old VW, and i tried to find a newish (EV) VW with traditional dials. Found one (last generation eGolf) and love it! No reflections, no dimm display when the sun shines directly on it, just a simple dash that tells me the speed whenever i need it 😁😉

Nice! Luckily I have never had any issues with glare or dimming, the brightness is auto set to max during the day when my headlights are not on and it auto dims at night when my headlights turn on. Some people like things kept simple and there is nothing wrong with that!

@@tridelv702 no, that was just my opinion, i love your work! Im sure yours works fine, but the original has sometimes problems with a deep standing sun, like we often have here in norway! That’s a problem many OEM Displays share, so tried to get analog dials, they work literally everywhere, even if i can barely anything at all. It’s all about the usecase, i think the map display (yours and the eGolf oem) is absolutely cool! 😁👍

I bought a similar dash to this one for my Scirocco and returned it, it had all these issues and some other ones! I then bought a version that had a silver trim on it around the edge and it was lightyears ahead of this, most of the issues discussed here were fixed if not all of them and it communicated much better with the car than this one. The easiest way to identify it is the plug on the back, if it is a white plug like in this video it will be the one with these issues, mine has a green plug with a latch similar to the plug that the original dashboard used that is likely to be the one that works. Things like the time on your dashboard works (my car has a clock in the radio and on the dials at the top as it is an R line, the dash in this video couldn't set them and they were just zeroed but this one did, loads of other small issues like in this video also work correctly. Highly recommend this version of the dash it feels closer to OEM.

I'm Also 1st time watcing your video and i also did like and appreciate seeing that you did struggle a little bit and that you did show that were an honest cons not just only the pros and the struggle edited out of the video (people tent to show just the highlight reels) now i bought a 2015 VW Passat TSI just yesterday my first VW (I think it is a B7 (Type 3C) its a 1.4L turbo and it runs on Methane and normal gas/petrol so i have 2 fuel gauges and no temp gauge. (I live in Iceland btw) it has just parking sensors 6 cd magazin I own a total of a 1 CD hehe and no navigation but it has Bluetooth so i play spotify through my phone so i want to swap the head unit for preferably a plug and play unit that has android auto if there is any unit like that. Also. There are these B7 B7 B8 but what if the difference of a B+ and a CC?

Battery voltage for 12v commonly run in the high 13 to low 14volts to account for voltage drop under load. The powered accessories will be regulated to run at 12.25 to 12.50ish volts so they dont fry. But the power source will always run a volt or 2 more. Headlights and the a/c will put the most load on the car

@@復讐に満ちた者 oh ok i see, i was just confused. The reason i said it wasnt accurate is because i didnt test it vs my voltmeter and it reads about a full volt higher than my headunit reads. So i am sure it is pretty far off. My voltage is higher than most stock cars tho due to my aftermarket parts for my car audio. Just wanted to clarify on my end.

I come back to this video from time to time thinking about doing this to My 2010 vw cc, 1. I dont care for screen mirroring or using a hdmi but it's a shame I can't have Google maps on there by default like in newer models. 2. Shame that the time and units aren't in Fahrenheit and only 24 hours I wonder if you found how to fix that 🤔, 3. The MPG is want I care about the most knowing how good my fuel Economy is. Those are the 3 reasons I have heald off on buying this, I wonder how this has held up I know many others in the vw cc group have this.

FM Transmitter probably sends the sound of whatever you’re watching on the cluster to that radio channel. So you set radio to match cluster and the car stereo will play it.

I currently don't have a check engine light some of the clips were filmed while the acc was on only but I bought new wheels and did not add the TPMS in them so I always have that light on until I buy the sensors

So nothing happens when I hook up the USB port directly to my phone. I didn't try with an iPhone but somewhere on the product page I believe, I read that there was addition features for android auto but as far as I can tell it doesn't work hooked up directly.

I think what I am going to do is find a head unit that has a HDMI out port and make sure that it has the capability to send a video signal that is separate from what is being displayed on the head unit if that makes sense.

That way I can have android auto show on my dash and my music, etc show on the head unit. I just need to research which radio has those features otherwise the only option is screen mirroring or that AI box with GPS that I showed in the video.

Nice! i love that group thanks for checking out the video! I waited so long for this to come out i knew i was going to get it no matter what lol. As far as the power that i dont think will ever be an issue since it uses the factory harness. I am not sure if you watched the full video but the gas thing is definitely concerning ONLY as far as the gallons left though. The actual gauge is correct and i should of elaborated on that in the video my apologies. It does not show codes i have no idea why that is not included smh. Thankfully my radio is plugs into my OBD port and it reads any check engine code. You would think though with how advanced things are now they would include a harness for the dash to plug into the OBD port for all the codes. You do get the light and beeps but no messages unfortunately.

Digital Dash has the spotlight now, but luxury cars will offer steam gauges in the future. Keep the steam gauges if you have them.

are the odometer readings preserved? VW/Audi used to have this in the cluster, but maybe that function moved to the ECU or other modules. I had to replace my instrument cluster in my '07 Audi A4 once (with digital odo), and they actually programmed the old mileage number into the new cluster. They actually asked me what number I wanted them to program in. I was honest, but it was easy to not be honest about it. I now have an eGolf. I wonder if it preserves the eGolf specific analog gauges, like the available power meter. When the battery heats up from hard driving, the needle moves down telling you that the power is limited until the battery cools off. Luckily, the car never dips so far as to put restrictions on the throttle as I'm driving heavy footed.

The product and final result look great but since it's a cheap Chinese Android device I wonder if it will keep it's optimal performance over the years and in different temperature ranges. I have a similar 10inch android tablet in my old Passat b5.5 and in two years time it just lost performance so bad that it's painful to wait it respond for every screen touch.

The entire world, apart from the USA, uses celsius and 24 hour time. Only America, as far as I am aware, still uses the outdated imperial system of inches, fahrenheit, gallons etc. I doubt they will release a firmware "downdate" to take it back to the 1950s :o)
