Little feedback: If you're making a "point" with this game, it should pull no punches. There should be some kind of gore or model system, not just blood splatter and an unchanged model. A headshot from 5.56 from 13 feet away is gonna leave a mark.

Just to preface this the game's looking incredible so far, will you look into the rounds impacting in a realistic place when you're aiming over your scope? I'm just a gamer with a fascination of guns and it stood out to me straight away. I made a comment with timestamps to examples where the rounds would be impacting way higher than they actually do and it may be seen as a minor thing but in terms of authenticity it's something that I know will sour my experience of the game personally. Otherwise looking amazing, nice work!

"You weren't actually hit" is a really cool way to handle health that I've wanted games to do for a while. When a game is super realistic like this one, it's always been super weird to me when you are able to take a couple bullets and somehow magically heal yourself with a medkit. Having a "lucky miss" meter instead makes way more sense.

It's weird seeing realistic videogames about a war you fought in. I was in the 1ID, and had a friend that was in Fallujah, also in the 1ID, named Garth Sizemore. Photos of him are in TIME Magazine from this battle. He was later killed in Adhamiyah, Baghdad, by the famous "Juba" sniper cell. We captured some of them, and I kept a huge pair of spotting binoculars I took from them, and mailed them home.

7:08 - I actually hear'd it just the other way around earlier today from an ex SEK Member (German Special Forces, like SWAT) that clearing up-to-down is almost always preferred. Most death occure in stairwairs and clearing up the stairs is harder than clearing them down. Also you get the added effect of "flushing out" enemies, which is nice when you got the perimeter around the building secured so they are caught. There are probably different tactics and reasons to argue for one or the other and SEK is not military so that is another difference.

As a note to the aiming over the top with the RCO, DO NOT try to aim like this game looks like you do. At 10 yards, you'd probably end up shooting 12in+ above where you think you are. If you could, the front sight post would actually be blocking the center of the RCO reticle. As someone who carried the M16A4 for 6 years, we were taught to use the Bindon Aiming Concept, aim with the RCO sight but 4ish inches up, or just point-shoot over the top of the scope. The top of the RCO is in no way meant to be used with the front sight. P/S Can't wait to see more of this game.

1:14 that's definitely an M16A4. The A4 is the only version of the M16 with a flat top upper receiver. All previous variants had fixed carry handles that were part of the upper. The Marines adopted the M16A4 in 1998 as their standard issue infantry service rifle. So by 2004 pretty much every front line Marine would've had an A4, only rear echelon troops would still be carrying A2s. Sorry about the long comment, I'm just a bit nerdy about military firearm history. Also I have a civilian Colt M16A4, so I'm extra passionate about it.

Yeah, I remember being taught the Point Shoot method when I went into the Army back in 2010. You're really just placing the front sight aperture on your target and firing away. It's a really handy way to engage targets up to about 50 meters or so, so it's perfect for situations like Fallujah where it was extremely tight quarters. You don't need to be super accurate, you just need to hit the target. So I wouldn't advise it for longer ranges. But I wish more games included this because it is a real technique that's handy for CQB.

IDK how they would represent it in game, but the way to use the ACOG at close range that doesn't have the top mounted RMR is to just look through it while the other eye is open. Until your dominant eye gains focus, the illuminated chevron acts like a red dot. Covering the objective lens also does the same thing. In fact, the earliest red dot made by Trijicon's parent company was literally that. Used by SOG in Vietnam I think.

I was a Marine in the Fallujah area during the Nov 2004 offensive.....and yes we had M16A4's with ACOG's. We definitely trained to use the front iron sight for close quarters....but we also trained to use the acog with both eyes open....while focusing downrange, and simultaneously looking through the ACOG, it gave you the chevron reticle in your field of vision. It was blurry but it was accurate at close range. We were taught this and trained this way extensively. Probably not something you can replicate on a video game....but I can also be sure that some Marines didnt quite master this technique and would just use the iron sights. I love the Acog because of this feature.

VERY interesting to see. I have marine friends who actually fought in the battle of Falluja. One was a sniper and one was a machine gunner. One of the worst battles of the war. The insurgents decided to make a stand there and setup all kinds of traps and ambushes. There was a detachment that got ahead of the main US force and got cut off and my machine gun friend was in that. They were surrounded and he single handedly kept them pinned while the medics treated the wounded in the cellar below. He was hit twice but kept on firing. Quite the hero to talk to. He has trouble walking and running but he still competed in our 3 gun match and still quite well. The sniper guy was a different story. He found a street that they HAD to cross but had a clear view of the whole street. Whenever they tried to cross he would pop them. To this day I do not know his entire kill count but it was ALOT. Falluja was one of the worst battles Americans have ever had to do. Probably way worse than Berlin in WW2. These guys knew they were going to die and they wanted to take as many US soldiers with them as they could.

That style of aiming for point shooting has actually been around for quite some time. Something very similar to that was described in a late WW2 manual for the No.4 Enfield, even if you had the nice ghost ring, you'd look over and put the whole front sight block on the dudes belt buckle and let it fly. Wow I haven’t realized how fast new indie games are evolving! The lighting, sound design, overall looks, and the randomly generated maps are awesome features. The game you played last video, Beautiful Light also demonstrates the quality upcoming games have. Other games such as Deppart and Unrecord also show what the UE5 engine can do. FPS games are evolving so fast and these indie games look so much more promising than our current triple A shooters.

Served in a combat arms unit in the army and can attest to the “point shooting” with the front sight post. On many weapons like our M4s our rear sight aperture is fixed and some of us use Acogs and they teach that it’s faster in CQC to put your front sight post on something and pull the trigger rather then lining up even just iorn sights. Red dots were supposed to be the replacement for a rear sight aperture in many situations but sometimes they teach it’s faster to either drop your front sight post on it and squeeze of your rounds or in the worst situation have your rifle in line with your body and point and shoot without aiming kinda like “hip firing” but we call it “low ready” when your not aiming down sights and it’s slight lower then your head. ROE was a lot different back then when clearing vs todays rules so I can only imagine what they went though.

The first waves wore woodland armor, were woefully under geared, and rode in green vehicles. Almost nobody had optics early on, save for a few of the force recon guys or higher ranking grunts. The weapon sounds in empty clay and brick rooms on empty streets would be crazy and disorientating depending on which way shooters are firing when shooting .how thick walls are or how badly they are built with light brick's and kill holes would be sending sounds all over the place dampened and sharp .some of them compound buildings I imagine you could be in a room next to eachother and it would sound further because of wall thickness and audio dampening through clay and straw .taking all that into account with ever changing maps is quite the feat and all that's before you take into account your own weapon making your ears ring every time you pop off in a room while trying to make sense of what's close and what's another section being cleared by a different squad just a small distance away . Maybe once it's four player the guess work will come good by recognising distances when team m8s are in other positions and rooms around you . .

I fully understand having the player(s) go thru the game for the first time as it actually happened and Im 100% on board with telling a story. I do hope there are Ai buds for us solo players though. That being said, I REALLY hope that once that first playthough is completed, players will gain access to different weapon variants and different weapons all together. Open an armory full of SBR's, DMR's, AK's, PKP's, shotguns, UZI's, MP5's, anything that was available to all police/military/insurgents at the time. Even picked up weapons and/or attachments and gear added to a player's armory that is lost upon death or whatever, kinda Tarkov style...loving the game either way, but all that replayabilty with the map generator will still diminish rather quickly if there is no "carrot" to dangle in front of the player. At least offer a leveling/rank system or weapon proficiency system that goes up and down depending on your performance and ties to unlockable weapons, attachments, gear, and camo. Also, do not add an accuracy stat like Insurgency did. Good teams do alot of suppresion to allow team movement and flanking and when there is an accuracy stat, some people wont suppress enemies cause it "ruins their stats" and makes them look like they cant shoot for shit. Time played, kills and deaths only if there are stats.

Ok, post review of the review (from a veteran perspective). The audio is jacked a bit, BUT while youre getting suppressed I believe the reason the shots sound 'muffed' is because 3 reasons; 1. When being pressed by a few different people (who I can only assume are using AK's [7.62]) thats a LOUD bang, so your ear drums are ringing. 2. Adrenaline (because that does it for me) not only tunnel vision but hearing is manipulated too. And 3. If you they make these shots as loud as the ACTUAL 7.62 your probably going to blow your ear drums and throw your headset 😂. Great review Drewski, I love watching you on Demo and so glad I found your YT and TTV channel now. Cant wait to catch you again! ❤

"It feels claustrophobic." Yeah, I think that's the intent. "I'm locked into this animation and can't quickly raise my rifle." Sure, I mean, vaulting IRL with a heavy, Acog mounted, 203 equipped rifle, vaulting wearing 80 lbs of Gen 1 LBE's with full plates, hydration system, and full combat load of ammo, you're probably not going to be quickly raising your rifle either. You mentioned first hand accounts of marines in Fallujah, these guys spoke quite often of their arms holding the rifles up for so long, they began resting their rifles on their LBE's because it was too heavy to shoulder the rifle after a FULL DAY of room clearing. So, this by far is more authentic than your fictional perfect operator with infinite stamina and perfect aim games like other "sims".
