Most of Sleep Token's songs are written straight-up in a 4/4 time signature. What makes things sound like they're "off" or in a funky time sig is the way II employs subdivisions, which is essentially how you divide up a single measure. If you break a measure down, it has four beats, but those four beats could be broken up into eight 8th notes or 16 16th notes or even four 8th notes and eight 16th notes, and so on. By simply employing the use of those syllables in between beats, he can create tension or darkness, or any number of different feelings. It's not unique to him, but II just has a really phenomenal sense of where to place what to solicit the desired feeling in the listener.

Part of what makes Euclid hit as such a moving on/transformational song to me is the "tar trap" line here in Like That. He falls into the tar trap here, and becomes thick tar himself, but he's burning on the inside in Euclid which signals that a change is happening. He's such a lyrical genius, like, damn. Worship 💙

I'm relatively new to ST, have been listening for about a year to them, and this band blows me away every time i listen to them The symbolism and imagery that Vessel pulls about his comparison to an insect in all three albums, "I'm a winged insect, you're a funeral pyre." The spider from alkaline in the video, the entire verse in this song about pushing down membrane and layers and adding to a collection, its how you preserve insects. He's a master at what he does, and then ii comes behind and underneath him and lays down his patterns to compliment vessel. It just feels like this whole song is about knocking a person down, and keeping them silent and pretty to observe. I might also be way off base, but it's amazing to listen to an i love your reactions.

This one demanded a few replays and submerging in the rabbit hole to fully understand it. Vessel is a real drama queen and indeed very emotional and passionate person in his own British way. This song - like Sugar - is very theatrical, very progressive, and it starts kinda awkward because it is like to look on one man play through the door lock. And this part with eyes like a grave is what makes the song huge and addictive, and furious.
