It's always nice to see things get fixed but to be honest I like seeing the videos, even when they are long, of when things don't go right. That's the reality of trying to fix and experimenting on things. Sometimes it's a real pain and these videos help keep me grounded in my expectations when I try to repair things.

I had a similar Sony Walkman back in the day. Spent 80 quid on it, which was a huge amount for me being on YTS at the time. Loved it but I managed to get sand in it and all the repair shops said "Don`t do Sony" or words to that effect. Don`t feel bad about not being able to fix something from Sony. Especially from 30 years ago.

A classic mistake with recording walkman is to forget to put the record switch back in the forward position. Sometimes the switch can slip down during the process. It will result with no sound in playback.
@richardsanghera1481 Жыл бұрын
Do you know where the record switch would be located? I'm having the same issue as the video where all the wires appear to be attached correctly and the tape plays but there is no sound, only static (and the radio works fine)
@richardsanghera1481 Жыл бұрын
I found it! It was on the underside of the circuit board right behind the DC IN port. I moved the switch to the opposite position and when I put the unit back together the tape produced sound!! Thank you so much for this comment, I never would have thought to do that otherwise :)

V-aLent E-ffort. That belt was more akin to "flat eyeliner"? (not that I would know, really). Who knew that something as innocuous (yeah, I said innocuous) as a belt would turn into another infamous failing part like the capacitor.. Really something. At least it's not electrolyte. p.s. One Yellow and One Red would have been FuNkY{er}. Thanks 4 the video.

Looks to me like you were trying to hit a moving target. I’m only guessing but the wires looked to be disinter grating as well as some not correct in the first place. I wonder if the components were equally faulty due to age. Not sure Sony bargained on a 35 yeqr product life.

Hi . I've got a mint WM F65 in original box. Radio works well. But :( - the tape doesn't ! I've got the recording mike and the belt attachment as well. am wanting to get rid of it. How?? Will anyone want it . Also I have a WM -FX55 which works perfectly!! as new condition Both have original headphones ( including the rmote headphones for the FX55. I also have a sports Walkman SRF85 - No Manual. Love your video on the F65!
@StezStixFix3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Pauline! I'm sure someone would want those 100%. You may be able to sell them on eBay for a good price. Failing that, I would hang on to them, as the price is only going to keep going up, especially if they're boxed and in great condition! I would imagine the problem with the tape on yours will just be the belt. It's definitely replaceable, but they are so old and fragile in there, it's not a foolproof fix. Hope you get a good deal for them if you do sell 👍
