Thanks for going the distance. Most bike reviews are only a short ride around a trail or neighborhood. It also cleared up one thing one e-bike reviewer said - that e-bikes are not allowed on trails in Indiana.
@scotthardesty3 ай бұрын
I always ride these bikes as far as they can go. Just saying how far it "should go" is not a true review of the bike, so I ride them until they die. I saw a lot of ebikes on those Indiana trails. I also ride mtb single track trails in Indiana and there are very few that will not allow an emtb. If you have an ebike and live in Indiana, enjoy the trails!

I appreciate the long ride, and realistic commentary. I did not realize how long it was, until I was at the end, so kudos for that. :o) Still haven't bought my first electric bike yet, and I am still taking in all the reviews. I am narrowing down the features I want, though, through the help of videos like yours. In the end, I'll likely create a spreadsheet with a column for the individual features, cost, reviews (like Amazon), and comments for strengths and weaknesses, to make an educated purchase. The only problem with that is how fast the features change, the models come onto the market, and the costs change. I go through the same process for all high value/use items I buy. Anyway, thanks for the video of the Fiido Titan, and your interesting trip to the cabin!

Choosing your first bike can be overwhelming with all the bikes that are out there. I am sure that once you figure out what features are the most important you will narrow it down.

Did you know: The bike helmet's history began in the early 20th century with leather "hairnet" helmets, primarily used by competitive cyclists for minimal protection. In 1975, Bell Sports introduced the first modern helmet with a hard plastic shell and foam liner, marking a significant advancement in safety. The 1980s and 1990s saw the development of lightweight, impact-absorbing materials like expanded polystyrene (EPS), along with growing public awareness of head injury prevention, leading to widespread helmet adoption and safety regulations. Today, modern helmets incorporate advanced technologies like MIPS to reduce rotational forces, offering enhanced protection for cyclists worldwide. Love your channel.

Useful video. I'm currently trying to experiment with e-bikes in more hilly terrain, so although your area is fairly flat, going full out at the highest pedal assist for your trip may help me estimate the lowest pedal assist in hill terrain. Just as you mentioned, most mileage estimates for batteries and ranges only seem to apply to flat terrain and lowest assist mode. From my own experience with most e-tool or e-bikes, linear increases in torque beyond a certain point, (ie. flat land cruising), seem to cause exponentially rising levels of battery drain which doesn't bode well for hill trips. Right now, I'm using an Engwe M20 with a modified seat, (I welded a rig together that holds regular bicycle seats), mainly because it has an advertised range of about 108 miles with a dual battery setup of 61 miles and 47 miles. Based on your findings, I will probably need to get at least 1 additional 47 mile battery. So far, I have mostly tested the arrangement for trips of 85 miles, and on flat terrain using pedal assist 2/5 it barely makes it back. But I recently tried a 75 mile foothill test where the elevation went up about 1000 ft, and it made it back at 1 bar (on the power meter) although I also stopped at Starbucks to recharge the smaller battery for 3 hours. The next hill test will be a 70 mile hill trip, essentially a 50 mile hill with net elevation gain of 5400 ft before descending 1000 ft, for 20 miles, (total 70 miles). The average grade is about 2% over 50 miles but since there are two rollercoaster hills in that elevation rise, there are two grades at probably about 5%. I'm pretty sure I'll have to carry an additional battery for that.
@scotthardestyАй бұрын
I reviewed the M20 and did a distance test with it as well in my review. You are also very detailed, you should probably start making KZbin videos showing the various tests you do.

Their range of 248 is if the bike is locked as a class 2. You keep it PAS 1 going about 9miles the entire time, you have to weigh about 140lbs, ride on flat land, no wind. I am 225lbs and 10lbs of camera equipment and water, I went 25mph basically the entire way, had hills and wind. They test in the best case scenario. I test it in the worst case scenario.

@@scotthardestyyou’d rate this higher than the Aventon Aventure 2? I’m in the market for a 26x4” fat tyre e-bike, and the Aventure 2 was number 1 on my list… until now. I already own a 20x4” folding e-bike with cadence sensor, and the riding bug bit me pretty hard (all over again, at 59 years old, with at least one dodgy knee), and now I’m looking for a fat-tyre e-bike with torque sensor. Hence my question. Aventon are not as readily available here in Oz as they are in the US, but both Aventon and Fiido can be had if you know where to shop. The Fiido is considerably cheaper, too. P. S. How hard did the riding bug bite? Hard enough that I’m also looking at the Aventon Ramblas, purely for fun. No commuting, shopping, or saving the trees. Just pure flat-out fun! 😎

It would be interesting to compare the same journey with more air in your tyres

I might do that and then throttle only. Not the 3 state trip but just riding around chicago. No way that bike will make to my cabin with throttle only (even if the tires were at 30psi).

J'adore ce vélo, je l'ai acheté, 2 mois d'attente pour le recevoir. Je suis impatient de rouler sur les de campagne avec.

I bet someone could make a wiring harness to hook up all three batteries where they are, allowing one to utilize the charge more efficiently, or at least do so without stopping to swap.

I bet you are right. Someone out there will figure it out.
