Nice one Chopsy. Thank you. Living in Melbourne, Australia (capital city of our smallest state by a long way). 400 kilometres, in any direction still leaves us in the same state! I’ve often thought that the XR is the sweet spot in BMW’s range and I think you’ve shown that in this series. The Belgian roads around the Ardennes are fantastic. I took my BMW K1 down to the area between Bouillon and Chimay last May and couldn’t believe how good the roads and scenery was. It’s a great area for biking all within a couple of hours of the tunnel/ferry 😊

Fixed the vibrations for less than a hundred quid, did my own memory foam conversion to the seat which I do to all my bikes (bony ass) and could ride it all day, day after day. Great video, thank you. This was a certain purchase for me and I currently have an S 1000 R and an RT 1250 R, as well as Ducati Diavel V4 but BMW have lost a guaranteed sale due to the height. If you’ve done multiple days of long touring, you’ve learned that at the end of the day when you’re tired being on tiptoe will mean at some point you’re gonna drop the bike. If you have a 29 or 30 inch leg, sadly, I’d find a different brand.

Nice ride, enjoyed coming along. I have considered the XR many times, but there are a couple of issues I struggled with: it’s tall, it’s top heavy, and in the model that I rode a bit vibey. My 1300GS with street tires is not as exciting, but as an all around road bike is hard to beat. Maybe they will add the adjustable ride height to the XR, that would make me reconsider.

Hey Lamb Chop if you want to plot your route use something called a Michelin map, you know it's one of those things made of paper that you have to unfold.....You get a much better sense of perspective & orientation of where you want to go & where you have been & a lot more general information. Gps is great in towns or cities but for the big picture paper maps are far better. If you come to visit me in France & Spain I'll show you how to use one....free of charge.
