15:25 The little burble after downshifting or closing the throttle quickly might actually not be preprogrammed but actually an integral emissions thing. That is definitely the case for many Euro 3 (up untill 2017) bikes It comes from air that is being injected into the exhaust to burn off excess fuel, so it cant get out into the envoronment in an unburned state.
@theman33433 ай бұрын
the burbles are absolutely preprogrammed and only show up in the dynamic and race modes. I have an RR and had an XR and it's an option to turn off in the tuning software. the bike does have the air system, it's just not what is causing the burbles
@BaldurM3 ай бұрын
@@theman3343 ok, but the physical cause of decel pops, bands and burbles is still unburned fuel that is ignited with heat and leftover or pair vailve injected/redirected air. Maybe it has to be forced in Euro4/5 bikes by injecting too much fuel since they are more efficient but my old Euro 3 Fireblade pops and burbles just as much and longer from the factory. Plugging the pair valve did shut it up almost completely. Its bad for emissions/the cat though. The "turn off" option that you are refering to, is the overrun fuel cut.

As someone who rode both bikes the SDR and the 2022 XR, I will take the XR any day. In fact that is what I did. The XR is simply an amazing machine. There is in the UK a Tuning shop called (BHPUK) they did my ECU curve. The 'hole' on the power band simply vanished. The only thing about the XR is that once you own one, there is no other bike that can compete with it - so in a way you are locked into BMW. Score wise, my calculation came to 57 - only as my riding partner finds the boxes to be a little bit too high which make it harder for her to climb up and down.

As a rider slightly taller than you I felt the seat was inferior to the RS, and my pillion who is 170cm also found the RS seat to be more comfortable, no issues with her sliding under anything that could be considered 'normal' braking and the handles are easy to grab if someone cuts us off. I have a 1st Gen 2016 S1000XR, and I mostly agree with your positioning of the bike… However, if you take a look at what BrentTuning is doing with this bike (especially on new the M1000XR), you might soon move this bike to #1 or at least tie with the Super Duke. As an experienced older rider with an aging back, the XR is bloody fast and many times I’ve left ‘faster’ inexperienced sport bike riders snorting my dust. And THAT is what makes this bike so cool. It’s fast, sits commandingly high, easy to ride, yet leaves many motorists perplexed as to ‘who, what, huh???’ Just flew by them. 😎 I’m never selling that bike. It’s a BEAST with a ton of potential. With the right exhaust, engine upgrades, tires, and tune, it can rip up many roads and tracks. It’s a sleeper. Honestly, I think you should try the M1000XR and if you can find one tuned and flashed by BrentTuning, I have a feeling you’ll really enjoy the ride. Til then… Ride Safe! So I am learning all this cool stuff about motorcycles and how to be a better rider. Problem is, I am in love with the Triumph Daytonas. I've decided that the new 660 would be better for me than one of the older 675's. 94hp is plenty for me. I just need more protection from the wind. The Ninja 500 has been perfect for me. Should I stick with it? What's the wind like on the Daytona 660? Also, the Triumph sits an inch higher and is 70lb heavier. (I am 5'-7" and 150lb) What do you think?

With bolt ons and a tune I am working with ~210hp, and I dont know how much torque, but it is a massive difference in feel, especially the velocity stacks and tuning. From the factory it has wayyyyy too many parts and enabled settings for emissions. Luckily, or even crucially, they made it easy to unfuck it with a tune. Even if you dont want to add parts or modify your bike, you can go to some BMW dealers that are also BT-Moto dealers, and get them to tune it for you, and it wont void your warranty! Yes, you have to rev it hard but I love that, that's exactly how I like to ride (and probably why I hate the BMW boxer engine). And... there are a handful of solutions to solve the lack of torque in lower revs and then... it becomes an even better bike! I have other bikes and I keep trading them for different brands/models/styles, just to try it. But my plans for the 2021 XR is to trade it for a 2025 S1000XR! Do I need to say more? ;)

The problem with initial reviews is that it doesn’t take into account how the bike holds up with maintenance and wear and tear over the next few years. Reason I am saying that is, how can you determine if a product is priced correctly with similar competing products, if you don’t know how they hold up after extensive use. Personally, I ride an Aprilia made in 2009 and all I can tell you is that fit and finish after 15 years and almost 24,000 miles is impeccable (aside from scratches due to drops, fault of my own obviously). So this needs to be taken into consideration - personal observation is that European motorcycles (and cars) have a much better appearance after years of use compared to their Asian counterparts. So how could you determine a true value of a product, if you don’t look at the entire life cycle of a product, where initial reviews are just that - initial observations for a very limited time.

Due to severe speed restrictions on the road, a bike needs to have character and be fun to ride at all speeds. With no cross-plane crank or low down torque, all the excitement on the XR comes at high speeds…. It’s too good in a way! BMW need to give it more character rather than perfect A to B efficiency. In my opinion, Honda have the same problem with their in-line fours. The World doesn’t need more power, it needs more torque and character!

They're a nice bike but can't but feel an I4 bike are very lack lustre for low down torque which is what is preferred in a touring bike. Of course, when going for a blast, it's a beast! If I were to buy an i4 touring bike, I'd much rather have the ninja 1000sx, it's around £6000 cheaper and a more natural riding position.

Isn't that the same engine on the S1000R?

Yes

@@diyeveryday67 Then why do people compare it with the double R when it's already not sharing a crucial part of it. It's wrong to assume they are similar when it's missing a key feature, it's an entirely new beast already.
