If you don't plan to keep it, it's easiest to get it out of the house (or at least hide it) before the kids decide it is a critical possession. But they won't love it for its intended purpose, it will be because because one piece looks kind of like cheese and they need it for the cheese game they just made up. You can't donate that! How will we play the cheese game?

Aaaand now I know about birthday rings. Cool idea but definitely more for the parents. Maybe they already have an heirloom birthday ring!
@Idk10704Күн бұрын
Not for the parents at all. Especially if you use it as intended. My children get to decorate their own birthday table every year. They pull the ring out. They pick the ornaments that will adorn it and they explain their reasoning for picking each one. Example, my daughter picked an avocado ornament because "I really loved avocados this year and ate so many" 😆 it's cute to hear the things they come up with. My kids are now 10 and 8 and they still enjoy these special birthday traditions
@slademurf2620Күн бұрын
@@Idk10704 That’s so cute! The site I found explained it as the parents decorating it in a way that lets them tell the child their birth story every year. I like your version better!! I’ll have to get my husband’s thoughts on this. What a way to get kids to reflect on life!
@Idk10704Күн бұрын
@slademurf2620 when they were younger, I did it that way (the description you read originally), but as they grew it felt only right for them to tell their own story and chose their own things to represent themselves. It's fun to see the different things they pick every year

Do we have the same mom? My mother hated me and told me she wished she had aborted me. She also told me she loved my brothers more. She never had money for me to do the things I wanted like dance and stuff like that unless she wanted to do it like going to a concert of her favorite band and going to theme parks because she loved Roller coasters but if my brothers wanted to play football or do karate she always had the money for that. Got to love mom's who hate their kids right!

Ouch. My mom had pictures of our family above the fireplace, most being 8x10 of the grandchildren, however the picture of my oldest nephew in the middle was the biggest picture I've ever seen, it was HUGE. Tell me you love that grandchild more than all the others without telling me you love that grandchild more than all the others. We all tried talking to her but she never listened...of course. Took me years of therapy to admit I know she has always hated me and my children and that she is a narcissist.
