Wow I learned a lot about Les Pauls! I’ve never messed with the actual guitar knobs much, I more adjust my Epiphone les Paul custom tone with my pedal board array and amp settings. And especially once I’m recording guitar tracks, feels like the tone goes out the window for the design of the song as a whole so that each instrument is heard properly.

Yeah, it is hard to maintain a tone that sounds unique to a particular guitar when mixing a whole song. I think my next step as a mixing engineer is to try to figure out how to better maintain the frequencies that make a particular guitar special in a mix, and better identifying what to cut away without losing that. Some guitars are so similar it's really hard to tell a difference, unless it's drastic like single coils vs humbuckers.

Yes, I personally got the 2013 Studio Deluxe II because it had the 60's slim taper neck (my favorite neck profile), and pickups I wanted (490R in the neck, Burstbucker Pro in the bridge, a more modern sound). The 2014 model is the Studio Deluxe III, the pickups were changed to a '57 Classic and Super '57. I don't like '57's as much because they're muddier, but some people love them for overdriving old amps so it's sort of a preference thing. The 2015 Studio Deluxe IV has awesome pickups (Burstbucker 2 and Bursbucker 3), but they changed the neck to a rounded C profile so that year lacks the 60's slim taper neck that I prefer. If you have bigger hands though, you might actually like that better. Just depends. All three variations offer true coil-splitting for single coil tone. Hope this helps!

I think you just may have talked me into keeping mine, don’t tell my girlfriend. It is the honeyburst finish as well but mine has Grover kidney tuners. (2013) The Traditional Pro II has a similar switching setup but has 57 & super 57 pickups.

Ah yes! Do you like it? I think the only scenario where I would sell mine would be if I found a deal on a premium Les Paul. I really like the HP II. But it's like three times the price used

@@vandarth The Traditional Pro ll was my #1 LP but I just bought a new Standard 60s as an upgrade to the Studio Deluxe ll. Having a serious internal debate about rehoming the Studio, can't justify keeping it but hate to let it go.

I know that feeling. I still have two SG's because I just can't let the first one go even though I very rarely play it. That Standard 60s is a pretty sweet looking guitar though
