These cameras are VERY VERY poorly built. I also had no useable support when mine gave up after just 2 uses. Yes, 2. I will never ever give them my money again. It was a poor experience from start to end.

Chris - I have the 360 cam mod for the Insta360 RS camera and a OneX2. Didn't go with the X3 as it was still based on the 5.7K 360 format. I think the X4 is a game-changer. No other action cam can do as much as this camera can. Love the use of the FPV drone, too! Horizon leveling is superb. I truly think that Insta 360 is leading the action cam field and will continue to do so as long as they keep listening to their users! You did a great review, and I look forward to seeing how you continue to use the X4! (Side note - I've only been to the Arctic below the surface in US Nuclear Subs. There's not much to see down there, but if I was still in the Navy, the Insta 360X4 would get some use topside and on the bridge! - I retired back in '95!)

Ive been using a gopro 10 for action shots, and wanted something with a wider view, without sacrificing quality or durability. Now i just want to wait for the gopro max 2 and compare, but so far the x4 seems like the obvious choice, especially because of the software that has so many awesome options, where as in gopro, it will probably be a subscription.

I just tested for the first time my Insta360 X4 with the water Case for snorkeling compare to my Gopro 11, and let me tell you, I was so disappointed with the quality of the footage with the Insta360 X4. Am I the only one, or am I missing something here ?

People whine about overheating with every single new action camera. At 8K 30 with no airflow, the camera MIGHT overheat at 30 minutes, but that is not how the camera is designed to be used. To not invest in a great camera because of edge cases would be shortchanging your own experience because of someone else's desire to make provocative content. If you want the camera, buy it. Insta 360 is not new to this, they know what they are doing and have proven on multiple iterations that they can handle substantial use and abuse.

3:08 - 3:11 You wouldn't be doing that if you had paid for this camera. Ridiculous. Provided you have attached the Lens Guards correctly then the camera will auto-detect them without you having to select from the menu.

I have owned every single GoPro since the Hero 2... I was a staunch defender of their superlative quality until the last 12ish months. DJI and Insta360 would come to the table with some kick butt features, but the image quality spoke louder than words. The GoPro footage (with the right settings) would just dwarft the other brands. In 2021/2022, things got much closer, but there was a clear winner. Now both DJI and Insta360 have just eaten GoPro's lunch. Especially Insta360. I think GoPro either gets absorbed into a larger company that wants to be in the action camera space or ceases to exist. And that makes me sad, but their leadership has led them to this. There is enough talent in the industry to make them competitive, they just refused to make the moves and give the customers what they have been begging for. DJI and Insta360 listened. Honestly, GoPro would be foolish to try to compete in the 360 market, at this point. If they can't compete on their core cameras, they shouldn't be going after the more complicated 360 format.

I am communicating that there is more value out of this camera then the price. For example - there are many cameras on the market over $1000 that do way less than this does. I understand and empathize that not everyone can afford $500. But for creators - the value of this camera can exceed the price tag. That's just my opinion :) Thanks for watching.

It is my dream to get one of these but to buy this in my country(India) it cost US$658.99. So when you say This should cost way more it is really frustrating.

This title is very repulsive!! Only valid if you are talking from a greedy company perspective.... A consumer will always want a cheaper price tag. This is a blessing that today this kind of technology is very much accessible by common people. This is what is called civilizational-technological advancement. We should never hope that technologies are best suited for rich hands... We as a civilization, are recognised with the tools which are in everyone's hands, and not what a few can afford! We have sent people to space but we are not a space walking civilization.
