Bullhead fishing is one of my favorite fishing trips. Up in WI, they're thick around here. We put ours in a clean water tank for 24 hours, if possible, and it cleans them out, makes them even more delicious

Brother those are so much dang fun...They hit all baits, lures and are biting when other fish aren't. PB is measured about the same as a size 9-10 boot medium width. We didn't have a tape measure or scale but it was as big as my boot. We catch them on light and medium light action tackle off the bottom mostly with earth worms. And yes they make great catfish baits. We find them in lakes and ponds with the bass bluegill catfish stocking model. They're cheap and plentiful. Looks like y'all hit a lick. Thanks for sharing John

Best way to keep Bullheads from swallowing hooks. Since they are not line or gear shy, use about a 1/4 oz jig head and put your bait on it. Only have had may be one in 100 get that down, no reduction in catching.
@johnliberty36473 жыл бұрын
I used to get stung by those catching them in the Erie Canal while it was drained in winter. I had no idea bullhead could sting and swell up your whole hand. It was fun to keep them in the aquarium when young and tiny. The healthier you kept the tank water the longer those whiskers would grow. Never ate one because I only caught them in waters that were not clean enough for my standards.
